The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall
Building, Wednesday afternoon, March 71 1956 at 1100 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Swanson,
Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Lowel Administrative Assistant Walter Sales, City Attorney Lovelace,
and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had:

Minutes of the last regular session were readl and it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded
by Commissioner Lowe, that these minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the
following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner
Lowe; those voting No, none.
Reports
The following reports for the month of February, 1956 were presented:
Sewage Plant Operator
Cemetery Board
Librarian
Fire Chief
Chief of Police
Sanitary Inspector
It was moved by Commissioner Lowel seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the reports be accepted
and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Swansonl Commissioner Erwinl Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Application for Aid in Constructing Storm Sewer on West Main
City Engineer Waldorf was present and reported that in order to get aid from the U. S. Government
for the construction of the storm sewer on Main Street from Ninth to Tenth Avenue, as discussed at
the meeting of November 21 1956, application should be made to the State Highway Department. After
consideration, it was moved by Commissioner Lowel seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that Administrative
Assistant Sales be authorized to send such an application and request for this aid to the State Highway

Department, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No votel those voting Aye being Mayor
Swanson, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Written Proposal -- I. M. Johnson to Cover Bozeman Creek
A written proposal from I. M. Johnson, Contractor, was read, stating that for the triangular
portion of Lot 24, Block C, Original Townsite, which the city owns, he would propose to cover Bozeman
Creek from the north edge of the bridge on Babcock Street to the south edge of the proposed alley
bridge in said block, with a concrete slab and supported with 8 concrete retaining well.
Purchase of Roller for Street Department Authorized
It wes rerorted that the Standard Construction Company has a roller for sale which they used in
laying pavement. The desirability of having such a piece of equipment for use by the Street Department
was considered, and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the City
Manager be authorized to purchase this roller for $600.00, and the motion was carried by the following
Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Lowe; those
voting No, none.

The bonds of the Coast to Coast Stores as an Electrical Contractor and Al Dykstrahouse as a Gas
Bonds
fitter were presented. The bonds were approved as to form by the City Attorney. It was moved by
Commissioner Erwin~ seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the bonds be approved and accepted, and the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner
Erwin, Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
ChBrge for Fire Call -- W. B. Vail
It was reported the Fire Department made a fire ca.ll to the property of W. B. Vail on Route No.2.
The charge for men and equipment at this fire is $58.50. A statement for this amount will be sent to
Mr. Vail.

The Manager stated he has audited these claims and finds them to be true and lawful claims against
the City of Bozeman, and recommends that warran ts be issued for their payment. After examination of
the claims in detail and checking against the Claim Register, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe,
seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the claims be approved and warrants issued for their payment,
and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: thoBe voting Aye being Mayor Swenson,
Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Insurance on Police Cars
It was rel-,orted that a claim has been filed by the Truck Insurance Exchange for collision insurance
on the police cars. The claim covers 80-20 coverage and in former years the Police Department has paid
the difference in premium between 80-20 and $50.00 deductible. The members of the Police Department have
stated they do not now want to pay this difference in Fremium, and the claim has been returned to said
company's agent to have the correction made in the difference in the premium.
Adjournment
1'here being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by
Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried
by the followinE Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Erwin,
Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
