Pursuant to written notice from Mayor Lowe as required by Section 11-3249, R. C. M. 1947, the
City Conunission met in special session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building at 10:00 o'clock
A. Iv:. on Thursday. September 29, 1955. Present were Mayor Lowe, Co@nissioner Erwin, Commissioner
Swanson, City Manager Henderson, City Engineer Waldorf, Chief of Police A. N. Haas, Administrative
Assistant Walter Sales and the Clerk; also present were Dr. R. R. Renne, President, Martin Whalen, I
Physical Plant Superintendent and Net Kutzman, Chairman of the Campus Traffic Committee, these three
men representing Montana State College.

'!he Mayor explained that the purpose of the meeting; was to discuss traffic, parking, planning
and related problems as they affect Montana State College and the City of Bozeman. Occupancy of the
new Men 's Donni tories at Eighth Avenue and College Street has resulted in a large number of cars being
parked in that immediate area and has developed a situation which is considered as an emergency.
'The meeting was taken up with 8. general discussion of this parking and similar problems and
mutual agreements were reached whereby additional parking space for approximately 200 cars on the
campus in the vicinity of tile new dormitories is being made available immediately. It was agreed
and understood that part of this parking space will be on a temporary basis and further study is to
be made so that the parking s1 tuation and all other campus traffic problems can be worked out mutually
between the City and the College without placing; an undue parking load on streets adjacent to the
campus.
1'here being no further business to come before this meeting it was moved by Commissioner Erwin.
