To whom it may concern:
I am a 17-year-old from Belgrade High School in Belgrade, Montana. I'm writing to you today
to express my opinion on the issue of the improvement of Oak Street and the area around it.
I understand the main issue revolving this project is who should pay for it, and how much they
are to pay. The city would like the county to pay for about $1.1 million, while the county
disagrees with this figure. The county is willing to give up the land fronting regional park, valued
at$160,000. They have also offered to pay$450,000.
While I understand the reasoning behind wanting the county to pay a portion of the costs to make
this improvement, I feel the figure the city wants them to pay is much too high. The regional
park does not bring in nearly as much traffic as a new neighborhood would, and the county is
willing to donate their land and$450,000 to this project that will only affect the people that live
in Bozeman.
Please reconsider the amount of money the city would like the county to pay so this issue does
not have to be taken to court.
