HomeMy WebLinkAbout1955-12-14 85 Bozeman, Montana December l4. 1955 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, December l4, 1955 at 1;00 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk. when the following proceedings were had: 1 Minutes of the last regular session were read. and it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that these minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe. Commissioner Erwin. Commissioner Swanson; those voting No. none. Reports The following reports for the month of November, 1956 were presented; Cemetery Board Director of Finance It was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that the reports be accepted and ordered filed. and the motion was carried b;y the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin. Commissioner Swanson; those voting No. none. Electrical Inspection Ordinance Art Stuart. H. K. Near. Don Bodley, G. R. Prather and W. D. Sherwood. representing local electrical contractors, were present to inquire as to status of an electrical ordinance for the City of Bozeman. They were infonned that a rough draft of such an ordinance has been prepared, is being checked as to legality. and will be presented to them for suggestions and review within the near future before it is put in final form for adoption. I Sale of S. I. D. No. 383 Bonds This was the time and place set for receiving bids for approximately $3,800.00 of Sf-ecid Improvement District No. 383 Bonds. The affidavit of publication of the notice to bidders was presented. No written bids having been received, the Mayor celled for oral bids. The following bid was received: Security Bank & Trust Company par ~ interest It was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Erwin. tha t the bid be accepted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No. none. Gas Fitter's Bond -- Montana Air Conditioning The gas fitter's bond of the Montana Air Conditioning in the amount of $2.000.00 was presented. The bond was approved as to form by the City Attorney. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin. seconded by Commissioner Swanson. that the bond be approved and accepted, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No. none. Fire Insurance for Buildings and Contents A schedule of estimated values on city owned buildings and contents was presented. This schedule is 1 for presenting to the Montana Fire Rating Bureau as the basis on which to re-establish an average blanket rate for insurance on these pror-erties. It was moved by Commissioner Swanson. seconded by Commissioner Erwin. tha t the F'i re Ra ting Bureau be requested to re-rate these buildings and contents in accordance with this schedule and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin. Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none. Sub-Election Official for Social Security Election Mayor Lowe announced the appointment of H. Dean Moore. as the sub-election official to conduct the Social Security Election to be held on January 4th. 1956, in the absence of L. G. Shadoan, Election 8f) Official. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that the appointment be approved, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none. Memorandum of Plan Board Recommendations A written memorandum of Plan Board Recommendations for the consideration of the City Commission was presented end read. It contained the following recommendations; l. That the City Engineer's proposal for the opening of llth Avenue end the future improve- 1 ment of the t street from Curtiss St. to Beall St. be approved but that no surplus street area in this proposal be vacated until a more definite knowledge of the developement and land use in that area is known. 2. That opening 5th Avenue between Olive St. and Babcock St. is desirable and necessary steps to that opening be given immediate consideration. 3. That no waiver of park requirements in new additions be given unless due compensation is made for the waiver. 4. That no construction of residences be allowed in the Industrial Zone. 5. That unzoned areas wi thin the city limits be zoned and certain areas be re-zoned in accordance with the attached map. The Manager was instructed to inform the Plan Board as to what has been done or is being done on the first ttree of these recommendations and to invite the Plen Board to meet with the City Commission to discuss the recommendations on zoning. Claims The following claims Nos. 4168 to 4176 inclusive were presented on the various funds as follows; Cemetery $ 7.14 Garbage 108.44 General 429.04 Library 92.07 Park 18.97 SDS Revenue l4.50 I Street 691.02 Water 56.60 Tot a 1- $1,417.78 The Manager stated that he has audited these claims and finds them to be true and lawful claims against the City of Bozeman and recommends that warrants be drawn for their payment. After examina- tion of the chims in detail and checking against the Claim Register. it was moved by Conunissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson. that the claims be approved ad warrants issued for their pay- ment. and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner SWanson; those voting No, none. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at th is time. it was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin.
