I'm writing to object to the size and lack of parking at the proposed Black / Olive project .
There's no need for this building to be so huge, even 4 stories will dwarf the nearby Blackwood
apts, and block the afternoon sun for neighbors . But the main issue is the lack of parking. I lived
on the 300 block of south Black from 1997 until 2001 , my car couldn't make the alley parking in
winter , it would get stuck so I parked on the street. It was a nightmare back then! People would
steal my nicely dug out spot Infront of my house and I would be searching for a place to park -
with a young child.
Parking downtown has only gotten worse, the parking garage is not big enough. This new
development will really make parking very difficult for the nearby area.
I am very happy I don't live there anymore, but pity the locals who still live there if this project is
approved at its current size. It need to be smaller to fit in with the current residential buildings
nearby .
