The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall
Building, Wednesday afternoon, June 15, 1955 at 1100 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Lowe, Commissioner
Erwin, Commissioner Swanson, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk, when the
following proceedings were hadl

License for Carnival Sponsored by Jaycees
A communioation from A. Kiesse, President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, requesting a 1ioense
for a oarnival sponsored by their organization July 18th to 23rd, 1955 was read. It was moved by
Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that the request for license be granted for a
fee of $100.00 per day, and the motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote. those voting
Aye being Mayor Lowe. Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none.
Right.of~Way Recommendation for Route 191 west of City
The Municipal Plan Board recommends that the Montana Highway Commission obtain a 110 foot right-
of-way for one-half mile for Route 191 to be extended west of the City Limits, and the Gallatin County
High School Board has concurred in this recommendation. It was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seconded
by Commissioner Erwin, that the City Manager be instructed to write the Montana Highway Commissioner
reoommending that the Highway Commiss ion get this 110 foot right-of-way for apl- roximately one-half mile
west of the City, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being I
Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none.
Extension of Water Main on East Main Street
was read
A written request/from Clyde Cox stating he will deposit $1,147.75 to cover the estimated oost of
the extension of a 6-inch water main on East Main Street from the present main, east, approximately
330 feet, to serve his property. He requested that the city purchase the necessary pipe and install
the water main. After consideration, it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner
Swanson, that the request be gran ted, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote.

Certifioate for Radio Equipment for Fire Department
A certificate from the State Civil Defense organization stating that, if radio equipment is
purchased through their organization for use on the new fire truck, this equipment must be made availa-
ble for civil defense use in case of emergency was presented and read. It was moved by Commissioner
Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the Mayor be authorized to sign the certificate and the
motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner
Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none.
Erection of Tent for Revival Servioes I
It was reported that the Church of the Nazarene proposes to erect a tent at the corner of Eighth
Avenue and Mendenhall for a period of three weeks for revival services.
Resolution of Intention to Create S. I. D. #383
Resolution No. 789 stating it to be the intention of the City Commission to oreate a Special
Improvement Distriot for the installation of a water main to serve the new High School tract and
adjoining property was presented, entitled.

THE INTENTION OF SAID COMMISSION TO CREATE A SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT OF SAID CITY
TO BE KNOWN AND DESIGNATED AS "SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 383 OF THE CITY OF
BOZEMAN" FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING AND INSTALLING A SIX INCH WATER MAIN ON WEST
MAIN STREET F'ROM NINTH AVENUE TO ELEVENTH AVENUE, A TEN INCH WATER MAIN ON NORTH
ELEVEN TH AVENUE FROM MAIN STREET TO A POINT FORTY FEET NORTH OF MENDENHALL STREET, A
SIX INCH WATER MAIN ON WEST MENDENHALL STREET FROM ELEVENTH AVENUE ro SEVEN11i AVENUE,
AND A FOUR INCH WATER MAIN ON NORTH TENTH AVENUE FROM MAIN STREET TO MENDENHALL STREET.
AND TO SPECIALLY ASSESS A CERTAIN PORTION OF THE COST OF' SUCH CONSTRUCTION AND INSTAIJ,A-
TION AGAINST '!HE PROPERTY WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF SAID SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT SO
I CREATED ON AN AREA BASIS, PURSUANT TO THE STATUTES IN SUCH CASES MADE AND PROVIDED.
It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that the resolution be
passed and adopted and July 6th, 1955 be set as the date for hearing protests, and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No votel those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin,
Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none.
Report
The report of the Chief of Police for the month of May, 1955 was presented. It was moved by
Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that the report be aocepted and ordered filed,
and the motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe,
Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No. none.
Order to Conneot Roof Drains to Storm Sewers
The following properties were reported as having unsatisfaotory roof drains;
Florence M. Pence, corner of Black and Babcock Street
E. F'. Cass, corner of Babcock and Rouse Avenue
Bozeman Lodge, A. F. & A. M.,corner of Main and Bozeman Avenue
It was moved by Commissioner Swanson. seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the City Manager be
instructed to notify the owners to have their roof drains connected to the storm sewers and the motion

Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none.
Purchase of Salt Spreader
The matter of a salt spreader for use in the control of snow on the streets was discussed.
After consideration, it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seoonded by Commissioner Swanson, that the
City Manager be authorized to purchase a chemical spreader for salt for street use to cost approximately
$910.00. and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor
Lowe. Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by
Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that the meeting adjourn and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin.
