HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-07-17 Public Comment - ML. Osman - Black OliveTo the Mayor and Commissioners, I have attended the DRB meetings and the meeting last
Monday. I understand that you have to work within the zoning regulations. But I second the
speaker who asked for you to have the courage to deny this 5 story project. I have read the
planning code and found the words "transition, scale and compatibility" throughout the
code. The Black Olive project is not at all compatible with the neighboring single family
homes. There is no transition and the massive block of the design is out of proportion to
anything nearby.
I live a few houses from the Evergreen Apartments and am not opposed to appropriate
density. The Evergreen fits into our neighborhood and although the residents park on the streets,
I can almost always park in front of my house. I have a small shed on my alley so garage
parking is not an option. I can relate to the residents near the BO who want to bring in their ski
gear, groceries or old dogs.
The newly proposed 5 story building on the north side by the grain mill is a compatible use for
that area. That makes sense there and will not negatively impact the neighborhood. We can
have infill without destroying a neighborhood. Halloran said he would not make his profit if the
BO building was 3 stories. Of course he would. It would just take a bit longer and why is his
profit the concern of our town? Please deny the BO 5 story building.
Thank you, Mary Lou Osman
