Montana July 13. 1955 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall - Building, Wednesday afternoon, July 13, 1955 at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Fresent were Mayor Lowe. Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the last session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Erwin. seconded by I. Commissioner Swanson, that the minutes be apI-roved as read, and the motion waS carried by the ' . following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being; Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No. none. Claims Claims Nos. 2756 to 2791 inclusive were presented on the various funds as follows: Band 4; 226.15 Cemetery 93.68 Cemetery Perm. Care 90.00 Cemetery Suspense 35.00 Garbage 63.33 Gene ral 441.03 Library 161.89 Park 359.78 Parking Meter 8,000.00 S. D. S. Revenue 178.84 Street 362.08 Water 952.97 Tot a 1 -- -- $10,964.75 The Manager stated that he has audited these claims and finds them to be true and lawful claims against the City of Bozeman, and recommends that warrants be issued fOr their payment. After examina- tion of the claims in detail by the City Commission and checking against the Claim Register, it was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the claims be approved and warrants I issued for thei r payment. and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe. Commissioner Erwin. Commissioner Swanson; those voting No. none. Resolution No. 790 - Creating S. I. D. No. 383 - The City Attorney as instructed has prepared the resolution creating Special Improvement District No. 383, which was presented, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN CREATING A SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT '1'0 BE KNOWN AS SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NUMBER 383 OF' THE CITY OF BOZEMAN FUR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING A SIX INCH WATER MAIN ON V'iEST MAIN STREET FROM NORTH NIN'IH AVENUE TO ELEVENTH AVENUE. A TEN INCH WATER MAIN ON NORTH ELEVENTH AVENUE FROM MAIN STREET TO A POINT FOR'IT FEET NORTH OF THE NORTH PROPERTY LINE OF WEST MENDENHALL STREET, A SIX INCH WATER MAIN ON WEST MENDENHALL STREET FROM ELEVEN TH AVEtUE TO SEVEN m AVENUE, AND A FOUR INCH WATER MAIN ON NOR TH TEN TH AVENUE FROM MAIN S TREE T TO MENDENHALL STREET. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that the resolution be passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor LOwe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none. Purchase of Hydrants & Valves for S. I. D. 383 As a part of the installation of water mains in Special Improvement District No. 383, four new fire hydrants will be required. The SUfe rint end en t of the Water Department recommends tha t Rensselaer "Corey" hydrants be used. The estimated cost of these four hydrants is approximately $800.00. The I Manager requested authority to purchase these hydrants and that he also be given authority to purchase four 6" val ves to use as auxil ia ry valves with these hydrants. It was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, tha t this request be granted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, COlluuissioner Swanson; those voting No, none. Request to Level Blocks for Playgrounds Blocks 3 and 4. Springbrook Addition. are vacant ground on West Main Street. between 9th and 11th 21 Avenues, owned by the Catholic Church. This church proposes to level this ground to develope it both as an athletic field for the Rosary School and as a playground fOr general public use. Fa the r - O'Neil, Pastor at this church. has requested that they be assisted in leveling the ground by the use of city owned equipment. Report The report of the Cemetery Board for the month of June, 1955 was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Erwin~ seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that the report be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: tilose voting Aye be ing Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none. Intersection Light on Mendenhall between Third and Fifth The need for a street light on Mendenhall Street between Third Avenue and Fifth Avenue was discussed. It was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Erwin. that the City Manager be authorized to have the Montana Power Company install an intersection light at this location and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting NO~ none. I Deleg;ate to Firemen's Convention It was announced that the annual Firemen's Convention will be held in Bill iogs, July 20 to 23, 1955. It was moved by Co~issioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, tha t two firemen as designated by the Fire Chief, be authorized to attend this convention, the expenses of' one to be paid from the General Fund, and the motion wa~ carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none. Social Security for Ci ty ElTll~,loyees The matter of social security for city employees was considered further at this time, and it was decided not to take any definite action at the present.
