The Commission of the City of Eozetnan met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall
Building, Wednesday afternoon. July 20. 1955 at 1100 o'clock F. M. Present were Mayor Lowe,
Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson. City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and the
Clerk. when the following proceedings were hadl
Minutes of the last session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by (
Commissioner Swanson, thB.t the minutes be aliproved as read, and the motion was carried by the
following Aye and No vote: those votinb Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner
Swanson; those voting No, none.
Reports
The following reports for the month of June, 1955 were presented:
Cashier Director of Finance
and the annual report of the Fire Chief. It was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seconded by Commis-
sioner Erwin, that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the
following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin. Commissioner
Swanson; those voting No, none.
Sale of Black-Top Material to Railroad
A request has been received from the Northern Pacific Railroad that they be permitted to purchase
sufficient black-top material for patching railroad street crossings within the city. It was moved by
Commissioner Swanson. seconded by Commissioner Erwin, the. t the City Manager be aut}-lorized to sell such
ma teria1 to this rail road and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: thos e voting;
Aye being Mayor Lowe, Co~~issioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none. I;
Renewal of Blanket Liability Insurance Pol icy
The Valley Insurance & Realty Company, from whom blanket 1 iabili ty insurance coverage fOr the
Gi ty was purchased in August, 1954 and who have been authorized to prepa re a renewal policy on this
coverage. rerort that the annual premium from Aug;ust 30, 1955 will be $2.315.98 as compared to a net
cas t of $2,430.40 for the preceding; year. They also report that. if this renewal policy is written for
a three year term wi th the premium to be paid annually. and subject to increases or decreases in
coverege as may be shown by annual audit, the first year premium would be $2,381.64 and the second
and third year premiums would be $2,036.64 eAch or a savings in cost over a three year t,eriod of
;jj,493.02. It was moved by Commissioner Swanson. seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that this renewal
coverage be purchased as a three year policy, with premium to be paid annually as per the Above terms.
And the motion was CArried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye be i.ng Mayor Lowe,
Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none.
Airport Maintenance to be Discussed
The Board of County Commissioners of Gallatin County have proposed that they meet with the City
Commission at the regular meeting on July 27, 1955 to discuss matters pertaining to tax levies and
budget for the operation and maintenance of Gallatin Held which is jointly owned by Gallatin County I
and the City of Bozeman.
Continuation of Appointment -- Henderson - Moore - Morrison
To meet requirements for continuation of surety bonds to be re-written annually, it was moved by
Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that approval of the City Commission be and the
same is hereby given to continuation of the appointments of the following persons in the positions and
for the terms as shown following their respective names:
M. E. Henderson, City Manager from August 15, 1955 to August 15, 1956
H. Dean Moore, Cashier & Water Collector from August 1, 1955 to August 1, 1956
Helen O. Morrison, Clerk & Ass't Water Collector from Aug;ust 1. 1955 to August 1, 1956

Appropriation Ordinanoe No. 782 Provisional Passage
Ordinance No. 782, the Appropria tion Ordinance. for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1956 was
presented, entitled:
AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING MONIES FOR EXPENDITURES DEEMED NECESSARY AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH
I BUDGETORY REQUIREMENTS FOR MAlliTENANCE ETC., OF THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT 01" THE CITY OF
BOZEMAN. MONTANA FOR THE F'ISCAL YEAR ENDlNG JUNE 30, 1956.
It was moved ~ Commissioner Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that the ordinance be
provisionally adopted and August 3. 1955 be set as the date for public hearing, and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe. Commissioner Erwin.
Commissioner Swanson; those voting No. none.
Emergency Vehicle fOr Dr. Sippel
Dr. W. H. Sippel has proposed to Chief of Police A. N. Haas that he will purchase a station
wagon and fit it with a stretcher and first aid equipment so that he will be prepared to answer
any and all emergency calls. He proposed to equip the vehicle with FM radio to operate on the
Same frequency and as a part of the Bozeman Pol ice Department radio net wOrk. After consideration,
the Commission stated that, if wri tten approval for such an operation is secured from the f'ederal
Communications Commission and from the Gallatin County Medical Association, the City of Bozeman
will a~prove the proposal and give all possible support to tile operation.

There being; no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by
Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commiss ioner Swans on. tha t the meeting adjourn and the moti on was
