August 3, 1955
The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall
Building, Wednesday afternoon. August 3, 1955 at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Present were Mayor Lowe,
Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelaoe and the
Clerk, when the following proceedings were had:
I Minutes of' the last regular session and of' the special session held July 28, 1955 were read,
and it was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that these minutes be
approved as read, and the motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none.
Bids for Material - S. I. D. No. 383
This being the time and place set for the opening of bids for water pipe and fixtures for Special
.
Improvement District No. 383. the affidavit of publication of the Notioe to Bidders was presented. It
It was moved by Commissioner Erwin. seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that the bids be opened and read,
and "the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe,
Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none.
The bid of the Paoifio States Cast Iron Pipe Company, being the only bid filed, was opened and
read, and found to be as follows:
For furnishing pipe & fittings . . . . . $6,971.09
The Engineer stated the bid was within a reasonable amount of the estimate, and it was moved by
Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that the bid be aocepted on the condition the
price is made f.o.b. Provo, Utah, and the City can get the material transported to Bozeman at $1.00
I per cwt., and the motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor
Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No. none.
Communication -- Expressing thanks for Use of Lindley Park
A communication was read fram the Christian Reformed Church expressing their thanks for the use
of the facilities at Lindley Park on July 28th, 1955.
Reports
The following reports for the month of' July, 1955 were presented:

Bids for High Pressure Steam Cleaner
.
Need for a high pressure steam cleaner for steam oleaning city-owned equipment and for thawing
frozen storm sewer inlets was pointed out. It was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seoonded by
Commissioner Erwin, that the Clerk of the Commission be authorized to advertise for bids for a
trailer-mounted high pressure steam oleaner to be opened August 24th, 1955, and the motion was carried
I by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner
Swanson; those voting No. none.
Claims for the Month
Claims Nos. 2792 to 3024 inclusive were presented on the various funds as follows:

The Manager stated that he has audited these claims and finds them to be true and lawful olaims
against The City of Bozeman and recommends that warrants be drawn for their payment. After examina- I
tion of the cla1ms in detail by the City Commission and checking against the Claim Register, it was
moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that the claims be approved and warrants
issued for their payment, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those Toting
Aye beiDg Mayor Lowe, COIIlDlissiOller Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none.
Communication - Bridger Development Company
A communioation from the Bridger Development Company was read, stating that they would like to
construct sidewalk in the Merwyn Addi tion in the conventional manner instead of at the curb line as
previously requested.
Fire Call Outside City Limits -- Tom O'Rourke
A fi re call was made by the Bo zeman Fire Department to the Tom 0' Rourke place north of the ci ty
on July 29th, 1955 end two men, with one truck, spent approximately three hours answering the call.
It was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Erwin, that Tom O'Rourke be billed
$60.00 for this call and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote& those voting
Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, none.
Withdrawal from Request to Have Water Main Installed
The Manager reported that, in a telephone conversation with Clyde Cox, he has asked to withdraw I
from his agreement to have approximately 327 ft. of water main installed by the City at his expense
on East Main Street.
Recommendations of Municipal Plan Board - Opening 11th Ave., Main to Baboock
At the meeting of the Municipal Plan Board held on August 1, 1966, that Board recommended that
the City Commission take immediate action to have Eleventh Avenue opened between Main Street and
Babcook Street. The Commission instructed that a plan be drawn up to shaw recommended location and
width of right of way for this street and that, in acoordance with this plan, the City Manager take
such immediate steps as are possible to seoure the needed right of way.
Publio Hearing on 1965-66 Budget
This being the time and plaoe set for public hearing on the budget for the fiscal year ending
June 30th, 1956, the affidavit of publication of the notioe of public hearing was presented. There
being no one present or no protests having been filed, the budget ordinanoe was ordered published as
provided by law.
Resolution No. 791 -- Tax Levy
The resolution setting the tax levy for the year of 1966 was presented, enti tled& I

It was moved by Commissioner Erwin, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that the resolution be
passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye
being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Erwin, Commissioner Swanson; those voting No, ncme.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by
Commissioner Swanson, seocmded by Commissioner Erwin, that the meeting adjourn and the motion was
