HomeMy WebLinkAboutBPCExh242017elecvehiclescharging Downtown Bozeman Public, Level 2 Electric Vehicle Charger March 24, 2017 Downtown Business Partnership (DBP) The City of Bozeman, Sustainability (CoB) KERBspace (KERB) The City of Bozeman, Downtown Bozeman Partnership and KERBspace will use an EPA $5,000 grant which KERBspace secured from the Yellowstone-Teton Clean Cities Coalition (YTCC), a DOE group based out of Jackson, Wyoming, for a public, Level 2 Electric Vehicle Charging station in Downtown Bozeman. This Electric Vehicle Charger will be for the Public use and placed in the Soroptimist Parking lot. The permanently located equipment will be provided and managed by KERBspace for the City of Bozeman and the Downtown Bozeman Partnership. The funds from the grant will be used to pay for electrical installation and charging equipment specific to the site. This EPA grant requires that the system is operational by June 30, 2017, with priority given to June 1, 2017. Overview: • Two parking spaces will be used for EV Charging in the NE Corner of the Soroptimist Parking lot • These spaces will be marked for EV charging and signage installed reserving the space • No special parking enforcement of the spaces will be required • EV Owners will not be charged for their use of the charger with electricity paid by the DBP • Electrical power will connect through an existing Meter paid for by the DBP along the alley • The City of Bozeman will provide trenching and site work from the meter to the site • The City of Bozeman will provide signage for the EV Charging spaces • KERBspace will hire a licensed electrician to install the electrical supply from the meter to the EV Charging equipment, with the grant monies • The DBP will pay for Renewable Energy Electricity (grant requirement) to the EV Charger • KERBspace will provide and manage one Spaceport, with 2 Charging ports • KERBspace will move one of the downtown KERB Connect systems to the front of Soroptimist Park to provide control and interaction for the Spaceport. • KERBspace will manage the transactions, equipment, and services on all KERBspace systems. • KERBspace is working with the YTCC to provide Electric Vehicle Education as well as use data and effects on EV purchasing in the Gallatin Valley. • KERB will collect data from the operation of the system, education program and other insights from EV users and downtown visitors. • In exchange, the DBA will use KERB Connect to provide services and sponsorships through the community to compensate for the use of KERB.
