The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission
Room. City Hall Building. Wednesday, August 30th. 1961 at 1:0U o'clock P.M. J:'re-
sent were Mayor Swanson. Commissioner Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy, City Manager
I Cutting, City Attorney Berg. Ass't. City Manager Fryslie and the Clerk.
The following prooeedings were had:
Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commis-
sioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, that the minutes be approved as
read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting
Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Staudaher; those
voting No. none.
Engineering for S.I.D. No. 422
Based upon an agreement for a "Contract for Engineering Services'" entered
into between the City and Harold Hoskins & Associates. Engineers, on August 9th.
1961. it was reoommended by the City Manager that this firm be authorized and
directed to proceed with the engineering services required for the preparation of
plans and specifioations and for the oonstruction of water and sewer mains in
Special Improvement District No. 422. It was moved by CommiSSioner Staudaher,
seconded by Commissioner Sedivy. that, under the aforementioned agreement. Harold
Hoskins and Associates be directed to furnish the engineering servioes as reoo-
I mmended for Speoial Improvement District No. 422 and the motion was carried by
the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commis-
sioner Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Purchase of Police Uniforms
The City Manager presented the written request of Police Chief Saunders for

authorization to purchase from the Blumenthal Uniform Company of Seattle various
items of polioe uniform apparel for the police force in the amount of $631.29.
Following the recommendation of the City Manager that the purchase be approved,
it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, that the
purchase be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote:
those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson. Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner
Staudaher; those voting No, none.
Communioation -- Business and Professional Women's Club
The City Manager presented a letter he received from the looal Business and
Professional Women's Club. The subject matter of the letter was a request that the
Ci ty replace the ga tes to the entrance of the Sunset Hills Cemetary. The City
I Manager and Chief of POlioe Saunders commented on the matter and gave a brief
resume of the history of the gates. Members of the Commission agreed that action
on the subjeot should be tabled until a further study of the matter oan be
c omple tad.
Request -- Patricia Anderson (Mobile Soft Ice Cream Unit)
Miss Patricia Anderson appeared at the meeting to discuss her request for

permission to operate a Mobile Soft Ice Cream Unit in the City Limits. Miss
Anderson stated that her plans were not to plaoe the unit in operation until the
beginning of the summer season of 1962. and Commission action was tabled until a
future'date.
Canvass of Primary Election -- 1961
Under the provisions of Section 11-3217. R.C.M., 1947. and this being the I
first legal day after the Clerk of the Commission had received the returns of the
Municipal Primary Election held August 29, 1961. the Clerk of the Commission aided
by the City Commission proceeded to canvass said returns. The results of the
canvass were as follows:

It was moved by Commissioner Staudaher. seconded by Commissioner Sedivy. that the Clerk be
directed to issue certificates of nomination to R. H. Elliott and R. Harry Morrow as candidates for I
the office of City Commissioner at the General Municipal Election to be held November 7. 1961.
The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson.
Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Staudaher; those voting No. none.
Canvass oj General Obligation Bond Election -- August 29, 1961
Under the provisions of Section 11-2312. R. C. M., 1947. the City Commission proceeded to
canvass the return of the General Obligation Bond Election held August 29. 1961. The results of
the canvass were as follows:

It was ascertained that of 4259 eligible voters, 2337 cast their vote, or 54.87% per cent.

Hequest -- City Attorney Berg
The Commission approved the request of City Attorney Berg to be absent from the next regular
meeting on September 6th. 1961. in order to attend a school conducted by the Montana Bar
Association at Missoula. Montana.

There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time. it was moved by
commissioner Sedivy. seconded by Commissioner Staudaher. that the meeting adjourn and the motion
was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson. Commissioner
Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No. none.
