The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission
Room. City Hall Building. Wednesday, September 6, 1961 at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Present
were Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher. Commissioner Sedivy, City Manager
I Cutting, Acting City Attorney Charles .F'. Angel. Jr.. Assft. City Manager Fryslie
and the Clerk.
The following proceedings were had:
Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commissioner
Staudaher, seconded by Comrnissioner Sedivy. that the minutes be approved as read and
the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Swanson, Commissioner ~taudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Montana Municipal League Meeting -- Authority to Travel
The Montana Municipal League has announced its annual convention is scheduled
to be held in Havre, September 7th. 8th and 9th. The City Manager recommended that
the members of the City Commission and the City Manager be authorized to attend
the meeting and that, it being in the public interest. their expenses for such
attendance be paid from the General Fund. It was moved by Mayor Swanson. seconded
by Commissioner Sedivy. that the foregoing be approved as recommended by the City
Manager and the motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting
Aye being Mayor Swanson. Commissioner ~taudaher and Commissioner sedivy; those

Reques t -- Holy Rosary Grade School
The City Manager plaoed before the Commission the request of the Holy Rosary
School for permission to block off Third Avenue Between West Main and West Babcock
from 10:00 to 10:lS A.M.. and from 12:00 nonn to 12:50 P.M. The request stated
that the 10hooJ. does not have sufficient play ground space and the partial closing
of the street. as requested. would provide a safe-guard for the welfare of the
ohildren against the hazard of accidents due to approaching traffic in the immediate
area of the school. lhe City Manager stated that in view of other traffic problems
existing at this location, which would be aggravated by the requested olosure. he
recommended that the request be denied. It was moved by commissioner Staudaher.
seconded by Commissioner Sedivy. that the request be denied and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson,
Commissioner Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Request -- Construct Logging Road in Bozeman Creek Drainage -- Yellowstone Pine
During the Commission meeting held December 24. 1958, the City entered into
I a Road Construction and Timber Sale Contract between the City and Yellowstone Pine
in the Mystic Lake area. The City Manager presented a letter received from Yellow-
stone Pine requesting, that. under the terms of the contract. it be granted permission
to build a short spur logging road into the NEi of Section 35. T4S. R6E. The
Company. also. presented a map indicating the alignment of the proposed road and
the location of the timber to be cut. The City Manager recommended that. contingent

on compliance with U.S. l:<'orest Service regulations governing such operations. the
request be granted. It was moved by Comr'issioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner
Staudaher. that the request be granted as recommended by the City Manager and the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Swanson. Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Staudaher; those voting No.
none. I
Purchase of 61t Cast Iron Water Pipe
~he City Manager reported the Water Department has need for and additional
supply of 61t Cast Iron Water Pipe and requested authorization to place an order for
310 feet at a cost of $2.20 per foot, or a total of $682.00. It was moved by
Commissioner Staudaher. seconded by Commissioner Sedivy. that the purchase be
authorized and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those
voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy;
those voting No, none.
Purchase of Chlorine Machine for South Reservoir
The City Manager reported that a need exists for a stand-by Chlorine Machine
at the South Reservoir and requested authority to purchase such a unit at a cost of
$949.50. It was moved by Commissioner sedivy. seoonded by Commissioner Staadaher,
that the purchase be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and
No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner
S taudaher ; those voting No, none.
Beall Park Building -- Roofing I
The City Manager reported that the roof on the building at Beall Park has been
for some time in need of new shingles and requested authorization to prooeed at this
time with the reshingling of the west one-half of the roof at an estimated oost of
$598.00. It was moved by Commissioner Staudaher. seconded by Commissioner Sedivy.
that the authorization as requested be granted and the motionwas carried by the
following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson. Commissioner
Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No. none.

The City Manager stated that the Polioe Department. the Polioe Judge and the
City Attorney's office had requested that the ordinanoe be passed and adopted. It
was moved by Commissioner SediVY, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher. tha t the I
ordinance be passed and adopted and the motion was oarried by the following Aye
and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Sedivy and
Commissioner ~ta1]daher; those voting No, none.

The City Manager ~tated he had audited the claims and found them to be true and
I lawful claims against the City of Bozeman and recommended that they be approved and
warrants issued for their payment. After examination of the claims in detail and
checking against the claim register. it was moved by Commissioner ~edivy, seconded
by Commissioner ~taudaher, that all claims be approved and the motion was carried
by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commis-
sioner Sedivy and Commissioner ~taudaher; those voting No. none.
