Bozeman is not NYC. No matter where you live or work in NYC, there is mass transit within a few blocks, running 24 hours a day. There are grocery stores within a few blocks and not at Co-op prices. Here, I have a school event I'm expected to attend at least once a month. There’s no public transit to these, so I need a car (think of where CJ is located from downtown). When I grew up without a car, I didn’t leave the city. I didn’t ski, camp, hike, etc. The subway took me to the beach, and Central Park was my outdoors. I don’t think the people living here, or moving here, want it to become NYC, or even a Portland. I am an environmentalist, but biking everywhere, especially with a family and obligations, is not a possibility. Not everyone works downtown, and not everyone is willing to take a bus to go grocery shopping. The reality is that at least one out of two adults will need a car. Projects like the Black Olive project are not at all realistic. Form inserted: 4/3/2017 4:42:11 PM Form updated: 4/3/2017 4:42:11 PM
