HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-03-17 Public Comment - S. Wood- Black OliveDear Honorable Mayor Taylor and Commissioners Andrus, Krauss, Mehl, and Pomeroy:
I am writing to respectfully request that you deny a Certificate of Appropriateness for the
proposed Black Olive building at the City Commission meeting this evening. It might meet all of
the city’s codes and guidelines but it does not meet the aesthetic or historic environment of the
residential neighborhood to which it is directly adjacent. Buildings of that scale and undeniable
need for parking should be located in redevelopment areas such as the North Seventh corridor.
Perhaps you fear that you have no legal power to deny a COA to a development that meets the
letter of the law. But you have the support of a large portion of the community and the Design
Review Board. We want to see our town grow but we want it to grow mindfully and in context
with neighborhood character.
Please consider the impacts this building will have on your decisions of how Bozeman
neighborhoods will grow in the future. You can drive those decisions by not solidifying the
Black Olive precedent with your stamp of approval.
Respectfully,
Shana Wood
