Templin - Black OliveFrom: Patricia Templin [pattemplin@gmail.com] Sent: Monday, April 03, 2017 2:19 PM To: Jeff Krauss; I-Ho Pomeroy; Chris Mehl; Cyndy Andrus; Carson Taylor Subject: proposed Black Olive I oppose the Black Olive on grounds of inappropriate scale for the historic neighborhood, impact on parking (our study shows the neighborhood parking 85% full overall, at present), impact on infrastructure, and aesthetics. (At one of the Commissions’’s meetings, a resident rightly called it ugly.) Since I live 12 houses south of Olive on So. Bozeman, my neighbors and I would be painfully aware of this “elephant” as someone recently called it in a letter to the editor. In Palo Alto, CA, from where I’ve just returned, they are having the same discussion about infill vs. sprawl, although there are few lots available between San Francisco and San Jose. There they tear down and rebuild. One criteria they feature in their discussion is whether or not occupants of the tall building (there, limited to 4 stories) can see down into other people’s backyards. If so, the building doesn’t get approved. We should seriously consider this factor of people being able to see down into other's backyards. Mine would be one of those into which occupants of Black Olive would peer, and I strongly oppose this building. Pat Templin 321 So. Bozeman Ave. Bozeman, MT 59715 406-600-1282
