RE: Black Olive: POSTPONE THE VOTE
Dear Mayor Taylor and Commissioners,
Thank you for your efforts to educate the council and the community about
all the underlaying layers of regulations and guidelines that the city uses to
respond to projects such as the Black Olive. Given all that I have learned
and heard over the last six months, I would like to ask you to deny, the
application as it currently is being submitted. Modifications to the design
may be a good way to go as well. But do me a favor, if you feel you must
vote in favor of the project as is, please postpone the vote.
My reasons for requesting denial:
- Out of scale for this tricky transition area.
- Twice unanimously rejected by the design review board.
- Totally out of balance with the surrounding architecture in an historic
neighborhood.
- Lack of adequate parking.
- Lack of city policy in place about air B and Bs.
- My view of the Bridger's is going away and I am not being compensated.
If Andy Halloran is willing to take off one story, keep the setbacks of the
current building, and come up with an aesthetically pleasing design than can
pass the DRB, then I will back the project. Please feel free to call me, 580-
5760.
Thank so much, Brian Segal
