HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961-02-01 :r71 Bozeman, Montana February 1, 1961 The Commisiion of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, February 1, 1961 at 1:0u o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy, City Manager Cutting, I Ass't. City Manager Frys1ie and the Clerk. The following proceedings were had: Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Co~~issioner Sedi vy, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Staudaherj those voting No, none. 'Hearing -- Smyr1, App1icatlon for Dog Kennel License Hearing on the application of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel H. Smyrl for establishing a dog kennel at 509 South Eleventh Avenue, continued from January 25, 1961, was further con- tinued to February 8th, 1961 at the request of Mrs. Smyrl. Mrs. Smyrl had stated that illness in her family had prevented them from obtaining further material in support of the application and based her request for additional time on that premise. Fire Insurance -- Blanket Policy Arrangement Review of the City's arrangement with the local assoclation of fire insurance agencies for fire insurance coverage on City owned buildings, roquested by the CommiS- sion for 15 February 1961 was held at this meeting due to the impending absence of the I Manager on the 15th. Gardlner C. Waite, Charles Vandenhook, Jr., and D. B. Bennett, < amd Kirk Frantz., a local insurance~gent, was present. members~ appeared on behalf of the Bozeman Insurance Associationl ollowing a thor- ough discuss lon, the present arrangement for fire insurance coverage on City owned buildings and their contents was deemed to be to the definite advantage of the City and in the best public interest and continuation of the arrangement was approved. Application -- The Bowl - City Beer and Liquor Licenses Applications accompanied by the required license fees ffilbmltted by The Bowl requesting City beer and liquor llcenses were presented to the Commission. The Appli- cations falled to lndlcate the number of the State licenses issued to the concern and consequently were not in proper form, and it being dlsclosed that State licenses had not been received, the City Manager recommended that consideration of approval of the applications be delayed until properly submitted and the Commisslon concurred with the recommendation. ConfiI'tn8 tion of George Jensen -- Police Department Letter was read from Chief of Police Saunders, stating George Jensen has completed his six months perlod of probation as a police officer and recommended that he be con- I firmed as a regular member of the Police Department effective February l, 1961. It was moved by Commissioner Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that George Jensen be confirmed as a re~llar member of the Bozeman Police Department as of February 1, 1961 and the motlon was carried by the fol1owlng Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those votlng No, none. City Manager -- Colonel 1J.S. Air Force Reserve ... Particular notice was taken by the Cont'T1lsslon of announcmen t from U.3. Air Porce ~'172 Reserve Center, Denver, Colorado, of the promotion of Oscar E. Cutting to the rank of Colonel USAF Reserve. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner S taudahe r, that the congratulations and best wishes of the Commission be extended to Mr. Cutting for his long and faithful military career leading to attaining the rank of Colonel. Such a record reflecting considerable credit upon himself and the City of I Bozeman. The motlon was carried by the following Aye and No vote: thos e vo ting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Staudaherj those voting No, none. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissloner Staudaherj those voting No, none. ;/~~ ~."
