HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961-02-15 :~76 Bozeman, Montana February 15, 1961 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commis- . s ion Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, February 15, 1961 at 1:0u o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy, Acting City Manager Fryslle, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk. I The followlng proceedings were had: Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commis- sioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the folloWing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Connnissioner Sedivy and Cortrr:1issioner Staudaher; those voting No, none. Bond and Contract -- Sewage Plant Improvements -- Haggerty-Messmer Co. During the meeting of the City Commission held January 11, 1961, bids were opened for lmprovements and repairs to the City Disposal Plant (Project WPC- Mont-50}, and Harold Hoskins of Harold Hoskins & Associates informed the Commis- sion the alternate bid of Haggerty-Messmer Company in the amount of $33,883.00 . was the lowest and best bid submitted, and the t since the figure approximated the engineer's estimate for the project, recommended the contract be awapded to that firm, subject to the submission of the list of speciflc equipment proposed to be installed on the project as specified. The City Manager concurred in this rec- ommendation with the added provision that the award of the contract be made con- I tingent upon prior approval of the Water Pollution Control Agency of the U.S. Public Health Service. Upon motion, duly seconded and carried, the contract in the amount of $33,883.00 was conditionally awarded to Haggerty-Messmer Company as . reco~~onded by the Consultant Engineers and the City Manager. Bond and Contract of HaggertJi-Messmer Company for improvements and repairs to the City Disposal Plant (Project WPC-Mont-50) was presented. The bond and contract was approved as to form by the City Attorney and it was moved by Commis- sioner Sts.udaher, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, tha t since approval of the Water Pollution Control Agency of the U.S. Public Health Service was received by . letter February 9, 1961, tha t signing for the Ci t~r by the Mayor and the Clerk of the Commission on February 10th, 1961, be ratified. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. Milwaukee Subdivision -- Final Plat -- (Annexation within City Limits) The final plat of the Milwaukee SubdiVision and certificate to incorporate I the platted lands within the City limits was presented to the Commiss ion. Acting City Manager ITyslie reported the City-County Planning Board had tentatively approved the plat on December 6, 1961, and on February 15, 1961 approved the pIa t withmlt reservation. The Acting City Manager stated that he and the City Engineer concurred that the plat be approved and recommended that the City Manager be authorized to sign the plat as Director of Public Service for the City. It was :~77 moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher~ thn t the Connris- sian approve the plat and the land be incorporated within the City limits and the City Manager as Director of Public Service be authorized to sign for the City. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor I Swanson, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner 0taudarter; those voting Ho, none. Kable Subdivision -- Fina 1 PIa t Tho proposed plat of the Kable Subdivision WRS placed before the Commission for approva 1. The Acting City Manager stated the City-County Planning Board had tentatively approved the plat on November 23, 1960, and on February l3, 1961 approved the pla t subjec t to defini te establishmen t of the te~porary cul-de-sac indicated on the plat. After consultation wjth the City Attorney, it was moved b~y COn1'TIissioner Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the Commission approve the pla t and the C1 ty Manager, ac ting in his capac i ty as Direc tor of Public Service, be au thorlzed to sign for the City, subject to the condition that the City first receive ~ deed to the East-twenty feet ( E2 0 I ) of Lot one ( 1) , Block one (1 ) of the subdivision for the purpose of establishlng the cul-de-sac ~s indicn teu. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being ~ayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher and Comrr.issionor Sedivy; those voting ~o, none. Con tinua tlon Certifica te of Budd Plumbing & Hea ting (Gas Fitters Bond) I A Continua tion Certifica te for a Gas Pi tter' s bond for Budd Pl'.lmbing and Hea tlng Company was presented. nle certificate was approved as to form by the City Attorney. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, that the certificate be approved and accepted and the motion was carried by the following Aye 9.nd No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Sedivy and . Co1'l'!tt1issioner Staudarer; those voting No, none. Continuation Certificate for C. E. Anderson ( Plumbe rs Bond) A Continuation Certificate for a Plumber's License Bond for C. E. Anderson was presented. The certificate was approved as to form b~T the C1 ty Attorney. It was moved by Commissioner Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, tha t the certi- ficate be approved and accepted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Comr.;lss1oner Staudaher and Commis- sioner Sedivy; those vo ting No, none. Ska ting Rinks -- Report for Season of "'60-161", Closing Date The Commission reviewed the season's report of the operations of the skating rinks for the'" 60-' 61" seRson and compared the operation costs, attendance figures, I etc. with those of prior years. The Ac ting City Manager announced tha t ::nenn V'Jhi te, City Recreational Director, has announced that ~le to unfavorable weather conditions the rinl{s will be closed r'ebruary 15 th for the season. It was moved by Commissioner . Sedi vy, seconded by Connnissioner Staudaher, that the report be approved and accepted and ordered filed.
