The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room,
City Hall Building, Wednesday, March 1:3, 1961 at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor
Swanson, Commlssioner-Staudaher, Commissloner Sedivy, City Manager Cutting, Ass't.
I City Manager Fryslie, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk.
The following proceedings were had:
Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commissioner
Staudaher, seconded by Commissloner Sedivy, that the minutes be approved as read and
the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those votlng Aye being
Mayor Swanson, Commissloner Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Letter/Traffic Study -- League of Women Voters
A letter written by the League of Women Voters of Bozeman to the City Commission
was presented. The letter contained suggested changes for the regulating of traffic
within the City, and it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner
Staudaher, that the matter be referred to the City Manager for study and staff ana1ysls.
The motion was carrled by the fo1lowlng Aye and No vote: those votlng Aye being Mayor
Swanson, Commissioner Sedlvy and Commlssioner Staudaher; those voting No, none.
Authority to Travel -- Flre Marshalls' Comn:lttee
Notice has been received that a meeting of the State Fire Marsha1ls' Committee
is scheduled to be held in Helena, March 22, 1961. The City Manager stated the main
I toplc to be dlscussed at the meeting would be safety measures regulating child care
centers, and, as there are a number of such centers ln Bozeman, and tha t, it being in
the public interest, he recommended Flre Chlef Penttila be authorlzed to attend the
meeting and the expense of his attendance be paid out of the General fund. I twas
moved by Commissioner Staudaher, seconded by Commissloner Sedivy, the. t au thori ty be
granted as recommended and the motlon was carried by the following Aye and No vote:
those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy;
those votlng No, none.
Authority to Travel -- Accounting Methods & Equipment, Director of Finance, Denver,
Colorado, March l3-l4.
The City Manager reported that L. G. Shadoan, Director of Flnance, plans to be
in Denver, Colorado during March 13th and 14th, and recommended that Mr. Shadoan be
requested to secure information on new accounting methods and equipment adaptable to
new city planning, and that, it being in the public interest, Mr. Shadoan's expenses
incurred in connectlon with the study be reimbursed to him by payment from the General
fund. It was moved by Commissioner Sedlvy, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, that
I the recommenda tion of the Ci ty Manager be approved and the motlon was carried by the
followlng Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Sedivy
and Commissioner Staudaher; those voting No, none.
Acceptance -- Codification of Ordinances by Bonk Publishing Company
James M. Taylor representing Book Publishing Company of Seattle retained by the
City as codifiers of the City ordinances appeared before the Commission and stated the
codiflcation had been completed, and thanked varlous city officials for their coopera-
tlon, particularly City Attorney Dan Lovelace. The City Manager recommended that the

City accept the codification as completed, and it was moved by Commissioner
Staudaher, seconded by COInr1issioner Sedivy, that the City accept the codification
as recommended. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those
votlng Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher and Commissloner Sedivy;
those voting No, none.

The City Manager stated that the reports appeared to be in order and recom-
mended that they be approved. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by
Commissioner Staudaher, that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor
Swanson, Commissloner Sedivy and Commissioner Staudaher; those voting No, none.
Claims for the Month

The City Manager stated he audited the claims and found them to be true and
lawful claims against the City of Bozeman and recommended that they be approved and
warrants issued for their payment. After examination of the claims ln detail and
checking against the claim register, it was moved by commisaloner Staudaher, seconded
by Commissioner SediVY, that all clalms be approved. The motion was carried by the
following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner
Staudaher and Commissioner Sedlvy; those voting No, none.
Violation of Codes -- James McReynolds
The Clty Manager reported it appears that James McReynolds of Gallatin Gateway,
Montana, during the construction and occupancy of the premises at 307 E. Beall had
acted in total disregard of the City's Uniform Building Code, the Electrical Wiring
Code, the Plumbing Code, the Gas Fitting Code and the Water Regulation Code, and
the matter is being referred to the City Attorney for advice in regard to what appro-
priate actlon ~~tm. should be taken by the City. I
Cancellation of Electricians Bond ...- Anderton Electric, Belgrade
A written request from the Home Indemnity Company that the E1ectriclan Bond
of Anderton Electric, Belgrade, be cancelled was presented. It was moved by Commis-
sioner SediVY, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, that the bond be cancelled and
the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye belng
Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Staudaher, those voting No, none.
