HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-27-17 Public Comment - ZA. Boyd- TapRoomTaproom To whom this may concern. I truly believe that the liquor license issued to the Taproom Bar should be revoked. To the Taproom owner, Eric Cady; You simply thumbed your nose at the City ordinance concerning the location of a bar within 600 feet of a school or church. You must have known this ordinance was on the books; you’re no dummy. Now you claim you can simply chance your address; it really doesn’t matter what your address is, the location is the same. As for your claim to be “family friendly”—an ice cream parlor would fit that bill—not a bar! To the Building permit people: Why was this allowed in the first place? With all the rules, regulations and red tape most builders have to adhere to, why was Cady allowed to transform the electric shop into a bar—right across the street from an Elementary School? Surely there are other locations just as worthy, where children are not close by. To the City Commissioners; The state may have issued the liquor license, but you had to approve it. The folks in Helena had no idea where the bar was located, given the addresses. But you, the Commissioners did; you have your meeting space just a block away! What made you think it was okay to allow a liquor license that close to where children work and play? To the School District: don’t you have an attorney who could stand up for what is right? Surely a judge would see that this is an unjust thing to have happened. Our children have a right to be protected. City Ordinances are not there simply to be mocked by someone who wants to make money. To all concerned citizens, including me. Where were we when the license was first issued? Asleep at the switch, and doing our own jobs, living our own lives. That’s why we elect Commissioners—to do the legal stuff. Zelpha Anne Boyd 411 N. Ida Bozeman 406-219-3534
