HomeMy WebLinkAbout1960-11-30 ~l16 Bozeman, Montana November 30, 1960 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, November 30th, 1960 at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy, City Manager Cutting, Asaft. City Manager Fryslie, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk. I The following proceedings were had: Mirultes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Comnissioner S tauda her, seconded by Comrnissioner Sedivy, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. Ordinance No. 818 The "Transition Zone Area Map" as provided for by Section VIII of Ordinance No. 818, the "Zoning Ordinance", and prepared in accordance with the recommendation of the City-County Plann~ng Board was placed before the Commission for study. Garbage Disposal Unit (Truck) -- Purchase During the Commission meeting held November 23rd, bids were opened for the purchase of a garbage disposal unit (truck) and consideration of the bids was de- ferred until November 30th, in order that an analysis of the bids submitted could be made. The City Manager informed the Commission that a staff analysis of the bids was completed and recommended the low bid of Owenhouse Hardware, Bozeman, Montana, be accepted. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner I S taudaher, that the purchase of the garbage disposal unit be awarded to the Owenhouse Hardware Co. on the basis of its low bid in the net amount of $8,441.00 and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Staudaher; those voting No, none. Tra ve 1 -- City Engineer Liquin Authorized to Attend the Montana Water Polution Council Hearing In Great Falls, Montana on Dec. 6th The City Manager reported that a hearing is to be held in Great Falls, Montana on December 6, 1960 b1 the Montana Water Pollution Council on proposed changes in classification of water in the Missouri River and its tri bu tarie s . The Manager stated that Bozeman Creek and Hyalite Creek, two of the streams pro- viding the City's water suppl:;r, are proposed to be re-classified in a manner that could involve the Ci ty to considerable expense for addi tional tree tment facilt ties and recommended tha t City Engineer Liquin be au thorized to represent the interes ts of the City at the meeting, and the expenses of the engineer be paid from the Water fund. It was moved by Comr'issioner Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, I tha t the tra"rel be au thorized as reconnl1ended and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Sta.udaher and COmr1issioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. Planning -- Construction of Housing for City Offices, F'ire and Police Departments Ott Tschache, Louis Spain and Manager Guy Sperry representing the Bozeman Chamber of Commerce appeared to present a letter advising the Commission that the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce respectfully requests the t a study :l17 group be appointed to look into the feasability of erecting a new City Building in the fu ture . It was further reported that eight other civic organizations pOlled agreed such a study should be made and joined with the Chamber in pledging full 'I cooperation in such a project. The group was informed that information as a basis for such a study of the needs for new City building facilities is being assembled, that the advice and support of all civic organizations will be solicited, and the Commission requested that there be conveyed to the Chamber of Commerce for its initiative and assistance in this effort an expression of the profound appreciation of the Commission. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner staudaher, seconded by Commissioner sedivy, tha t the meeting adjourn.
