The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commis-
sion Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, May 11, 1960 at 1:00 p.m. Present were
Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy, Acting City Manager I
Fryslie, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk. The following proceedings were
had:
Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commis-
sioner Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the minutes be approved
as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those
voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy;
those voting No, none.
Petition -- Vacate Portions of East Cleveland Street and Highland Avenue in
Prospect Hill Addition
A petition filed by Bozeman Deaconess Hospital, Inc., the abutting property
owner, to vacate a portion of east Cleveland Street and a portion of Highland
Avenue in Prospect Hill Addition was presented.
It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher,
that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare a Resolution of Intention vacat-
ing the foregoing and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote:
those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner
staudaher; those voting No, none. I
Request -- Mtn. States Tel. & Tel. Co. to Park Display ~uck on Main Street
Acting on a letter of request received from the Mtn. States Tel. & Tel.
Co., and the personal request of W. W. Miller, local commercial representative
of the Company, it was moved by Commissioner Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner
Sedivy, that the Company be granted permission to park a truck and attached
semi-trailer, housing a telephone display called "Phonorama" at 24 E. Main, .,
during the hours of 11:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., on May 21st and 23rd and the motion
was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor
Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Petition -- Request of Special Improvement District to Pave and Drain a Portion
of the Streets in Royal Vista Addition
A petition signed by residents of the area to create a special improvement
district for drainage and paving a portion of the streets in Royal Vista Addi-
tion was placed before the Commission. Upon the recommendation of Acting Manager
Fryslie, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher,
that the City Engineer be instructed to prepare the necessary data and based on I
such data, the City Attorney be instructed to prepare a resolution of intention
to create the proposed district, and the motion was carried by the following Aye
and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Sedivy and
Commissioner Staudaher; those voting No, none.
Band -- Appointments
It was announced that Percy Bronson had been elected and appointed Director
of the Bozeman Municipal Band, and that J. R. Hehn and A. L. Harstad had been-appointed

to serve on the joint city band committee.
Following the recommendation of the Acting City Mans.ger, it was moved by Commis-
sioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, that the appo.intments be approved
and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Staudaher; tho-se voting No, none.
I Audit -- Yellowstone Pine
The Director of Finance's audit of the operations of Yellowstone Pine Company's
cost of constructing the Mystic Lake road for the period January through November,
1959 was placed before the Commission. Upon the recommendation of the Acting City
Manager, it was moved by Commissioner Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy,
that the audit be approved and filed and the motion was carried by the following
Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher and
Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Investment of SID Revolving Funds
The Director of Finance reported that some $98,000.00 of SIn Revolving Funds
invested in U.S. Treasury Bills will mature on May 15-16, 1960 and requested per-
mission to reinvest these funds in U. S. Treasury Bills until June 23rd, 1960.
It was moved by Commissioner SediVY, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, that the
request to reinvest these funds be granted and the motion was carried by the follow-
ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Comnissioner Sedivy
and Commissioner Staudaher; those voting No, none.
I Bond -- Gas Fitters
The Gas Fitter's bond of John Howard, Manhattan, Montana was presented. The
bond was approved as to form by the City Attorney, and it was moved by Commissioner

Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the bond be accepted and approved
and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye
being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting
. No, none.
Armed Forces Day -- May 21, 1960
Guy Sperry, manager of the local chamber of commerce, appeared before the
Commission and requested that the City display the American Flags on Main Street,
May 21, 1960, and permission be granted to stage the Armed Forces Day Parade and
park a reviewing truck in front of the Rialto Theater during the parade on the same
date. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, that
the request be granted and the motion was carried by the fOllowing Aye and No vote:
those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner
I Staudaher; those voting No, none.
Gallatin Dog Club
Mrs. Elmira Smyrl, President of the Gallatin Dog Club, further disc ussed various
phases of the New Ordinance passed for the control of dogs. All members of the
Commission expressed their appreciation to the Gallatin Dog Club for the interest
members of the group showed in the prOblem confronting the city officials.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time,
it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, that the
