HomeMy WebLinkAbout1960-05-25 25'0 Bozeman, Montana May 25, 1960 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commis- sion Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, May 25, 1960 at l:UO o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy, City Manager Cutting, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk. The follow1ng proceed- I ings were had: Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commis- sioner Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: thos e vo ting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. Purchase of Dump Truck This was the time and place set for opening bids on the purchase of a dump truck for the Street Department. The affidavit of publication of the Call for Bids was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Staudaher, seconded by Commis- sioner Sedivy, that the bids be opened and read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. Int'l. 8 Cyl. 4,197.00 400.00 3,797.00 It It It II 6 Cyl. 4,147.00 400.UO 3,747.00 The City Manager recommended that the bids be tabulated by the City Engineer and the purchase of the truck be discussed with Street Superintendent Springer, and upon recommendation of Mr. Springer, concurred in by the City Manager that the City accept the bid of Bozeman Motors for the Ford truck on a no-trade basis as being the lowest and best bid, it was moved b~1 Commissioner Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the bid of Bozeman Motors be accepted as recommended and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. Bids for Misc. W & C 1960 This was the time and place set for receiving bids for construction of Misc. W & C 1960. Affidavit of publication of Notice was presented. I twas moved by Co~issioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, tha t the bids I filed with the Clerk be opened and read and the motion was carried by the follow- ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Staudaher; those voting No, none. On opening the bid of W. D. Howells, it was found that Mr. Howells did not have a Montana Contractors License as required by law and instructions to bidders, and, for that reason, his bid was rejected and not read or considered. ')11 1-.....,- One qualified bid having been received it was opened and read and found to be as follows: Monarch Lumber Company - ~ - .. - .. - $1,537.95 The City Manager recommended that the bid received be checked by the City .1 Engineer, and upon the verification of the extensions of the bid ~y the Engineer, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, the t the bid of Monarch Lumber Company be accepted and the motion was carried by the foLlow- ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Staudaher; those voting No, none. Ordinance No. 822 -- Control of Dogs and Other Animals Glen Harrington again appeared before the Commission and presented a petition relating to Ordinance No. 822. This petition was received by the Clerk of the Commission, read and placed on file. Westridge Subdivision -- Approval of Plat Mr. Neal Weaver appeared before the Commission and presented a proposed plat of approximately 3'1 acres to be known as Westridge Subdivision, one-fourth mile south of Kagy Lane between Third Avenue extended and Spring Creek, and requested the City Commission to approve the plat. The City Manager presented a letter received from the City-County Planning Board stating that the Board had approved the plat as of May 16th, 196u, subject to the provision of cul-de-sacs at the north end of two I streets until they are continued north. Upon the recommendation of the City Manager, it was moved by Commissioner Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the plat be accepted and approved, and the City Manger acting as Director of Public Service be authorized to sign for the City and the motion was carried by the fOllowing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, (Jommissioner Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. Applica tions -- C1 ty Beer and Liquor Licens('ls, Bozeman Country Club Applications for a City beer license and a City liquor license, together with the required license fees for the Bozeman Country Club were presented. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, tha t the a pplica tions be approved and that the Director of Finance be directed to issue the licenses in accordance therewith and the motion was carried by the fOllowing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher and Commissioner SedivyJ those voting No, none. Request for Leave of Absence - Police Officer Smiley, - To Attend Military School A letter from Police Officer Earl G. Smiley, Jr. was presented to the Commis- I sion in the form of a request, that, having been recommended by the National Guard -. for attendance at an Army school at Fort Knox, Kentucky, July 1 to November 21, he be granted a leave of absenoe without pay to enable him to attend the school. This request oarried the endorsement of the Chief of Police and the request was recommended by the City Manager. It was moved by Commissioner Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner Sedi vy, that the request be granted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher and Com~lssioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. 252 Authority to Travel -- State Fire Chief's Conference Notice has been received that the State Fire Chief's Conference is scheduled to be held in Butte, June 9-11, 1960. Upon the recommendation of the City Manager, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, that.. it being in the public interest, Fire Cheif Penttila be authorized to attend this -I Convention and the expense of his attendance be paid out of the GeneraL Fund and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: ~hose voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Staudaher; those voting No, none. Authority to Travel -- State Firemen's Convention Notice has been received that the State Firemen's Convention is scheduled to be held in Dillon, June 16-18, 1960. Upon the recommendations of the Fire ~ Chief and the City Manager, it was moved by Commissioner Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that, it being in the public interest, Capt. Jack Huber and Fireman Simpson be authorized to attend this Convention and the expense of the delegates incurred by such attendance be paid out of the General Fund and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, I it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, tha t the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Staudaherj those voting No, none.
