HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-17-17 Public Comment - E. Hosking - Black OliveDear Commissioners:
I implore you to reject the Halloran Black/Olive project to be considered by you on April
3. There is nothing to recommend a project of this scale or design on this site.
The existing neighborhood clearly will be devalued in many tangible and intangible ways by the
project. No amount of wishing that infill or increased city density will preserve open spaces
surrounding the city will make that fantasy come true. No doubt consultants, who make their
living encouraging growth, and developers, who make their fortunes taking advantage of
growing communities, will argue otherwise. But who sees more clearly - the people who love
the place or the people who see opportunity for gain in the place?
Please rather work to preserve the neighborhood values still present in the remaining beautiful,
sometimes quirky, and definitely Western downtown neighborhoods. Let us continue in peaceful
enjoyment of our properties. In fact, help us regain what we've already lost in our ability to park
and shop and enjoy downtown. Return to the city the parking spaces, owned by the public but
given away (leased?) for the purpose of padding profits of developers. Make sure all new
building is in keeping with the scale of existing houses and provides adequate parking for all of
anticipated residents.
I know you all must love Bozeman as much as I do. Why else spend your days and nights
working for its citizens? I trust that love will cause you to make caring and careful decisions.
