The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission
Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, August 10th, 1960 at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Present
were Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher, City Manager Cutting, Ass't. City Manager
I Fryslie, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk.
The following proceedings were had:
Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commissioner
Staudaher, seconded by Mayor Swanson, that the minutes be approved as read and the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor
Swanson and Commissioner Staudaher; those voting No, none.
Ordinance No. 826
Affidavit of publication of the Annual Appropriation Ordinance for the fiscal
year ending June 30, 1961 was presented together with the Appropriation Ordinance
No. 826, entitled:
AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING MONIES FOR EXPENDITURES DEEMED NECESSARY
AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH BUDGETARY REQUIREMENTS FOR MAINTENANCE, ETC.,
OF THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA FOR THE
FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30th, 1961.
It was moved by Mayor Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, tha t the
ordinance be finally adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and
No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson and Commissioner Staudaher; those
I voting No, none.
Purchase of Fluorine
Having received advice from the Dyce Sales & Engineering Service Co.,
Billings, Montana, that the sodium silicofluoride it would propose to furnish
would be the product of Blockson Chemical Company and would meet AWWA specifications
No. B-702-542, the City Manager advised the CommissIon that Dyce Sales & Engineer-
ing Service Company had submitted the lowest and best bid of those opened on
August 3, 1960 and recommended that he be authorized to place an order with the
company for 40,uOO lbs. of sodium silicofluoride at the bid price of $8.25 ewt,
,F.O.B., Bozeman. It was moved by Commissioner Staudaher, seconded by Mayor Swanson,
that authorization be granted as requested and the motion was carried by the
following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson and Commissioner
Staudaher; those voting No, none.
D. A. V. Forget-me-not Day
Request has been received from the Bozeman D. A. V. to sell Forget-me-not
tags on August 13, 1960, and that the date be designated as Forget-me-not Day.

be granted, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those

Proposed Routing of Interstate Highway
Presented was a map purporting to show a routing of the proposed Interstate
Highway across the northern section of Bozeman, which was submitted by the Bozeman
City-County Planning Board whose letter of transmittal ad~i8ed the Commission that

the proposed routing and indications of interchanges at approximately the east city
limits of Bozeman on present U.S. Highway No. 10 and at the first railroad overpass
on North Seventh Avenue along with grade separations at "L" Street and at North Rouse
Avenue had been studied and approved by the Board and recommended that the plan be
approved by the Board of County Commissioners and by the Commission and the Montana
State Highway Commission be so notified I
The Commission concurred in the recommendation of the Planning Board and
directed the Manager to notify the Montana State Highway Commission accordingly.
Request .. Vacate Alleys in Block 100, N. P. Addition
A request received from the AMC Co. of Bozeman to vacate the alleys in Block
.
100 of the Northern Pacific Addition to the City was placed before the Commission.
The Commission deemed the request contrary to ordinance and not to be in the public
interest, and it was moved by Commissioner Staudaher, seconded by Mayor Swanson,
that the City Attorney be directed to notify the Company of its denial of the re-
quest, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting
Aye being Mayor Swanson and Commissioner Staudaher; those voting No~ none.
Curb Cu t - Ed's Auto Body Shop
Ed Jorgenson, proprietor of Ed's Auto Body Shop, appeared before the Commis-
sion to request permission to construct a curb cut at 518 West Beall in excess 'ot
the 20 foot limitation wstablished by City policy. The City Engineer recommended

that permission be granted to construct the cut 3 feet in excess of the maximum
or 23 feet. It was moved by Mayor Swanson, seoonded by Commissioner Staudaher, I
that permission be granted as recommended and the motion was carried by the follow-

Xmas Decoration - City Streets
A Chamber of Commerce Committee, Guy Sperry, Wes Dunham and Don DeCosse,
appeared to discuss the annual project of decorating Main Street for the
Christmas holidays. Mayor Swanson and Commissioner Staudaher advised the committee
the City would participate in the project to the same extent as in 1959.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time,
it was moved by Mayor Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, tha t the meet-
ing adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those
voting Aye being Mayor Swanson and Commissioner Staudaher; those voting No, none.
