The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commis-
sion Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, August 17th, i960 at 1:00 o'clock p.m.
I Present were Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher, City Manager Cutting, Asslt.
City Manager Fryslie, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk.
The following proceedings were had:
Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commissioner
Staudaher, seoonded by Mayor Swanson, that the minutes be approved as read and the
motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor
Swanson and Commissioner Staudaherj those voting N~none.
Resolution No. 983 -- Assessing SID No. 408 -- Provisional Passage
Resolution No. 983 levying assessments for oonstruotion of Special Improvement
Distriot No. 408 in the amount of $65,107.91 was presented, entitled:

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN,
MONTANA, LEVYING AND ASSESSING A SPECIAL ASSESSMENT OF TAXES
UPON ALL THE PROPERTY IN SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT No. 408
IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, COUNTY OF GALLA TIN, S TA TE OF MONTA'HA;
TO DEFRAY THE COST OF CONSTRUCTING AND MAKING THE IMPROVEMENTS
WITHIN SAID SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 408.
It was moved by Mayor Swanson, seoonded by Commissioner Staudaher, tha t the
I resolution be provisionaily adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye
and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson and Commissioner Staudaher;

~Resolution No. 984 -- Assessing SID No. 409 -- Provisional Passage
Resolution No. 984 levying assessments for construotion of Speoial Improvement
Distriot No. 409 in the amount of $34,647.14 was presented, entitled:

A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN,
MONTANA, LEVYING AND ASSESSING A SPECIAL ASSESSMENT OF
TAXES UPON ALL THE PROPERTY IN SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DIST-
RICT NO. 409 IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, COUNTY OF GALLATIN,
STA TE OF 'tmlI'TANA, TO DEFRAY THE COST OF CONSTRUCTING AND
MAKING THE IRPROVEMENTS WITHIN SAID SPECAIL IMPROVEMENT
DISTRICT NO. 409
It was moved by Commissioner Staudaher, seoonded by Mayor Swanson, tha t the
resolution be provisionally adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye
and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson and Commissioner Staudaherj
those voting No, none.
Resolution No. 985 -- Sprinkling Assessment
I Resolution No. 985, levying the assessment in the amount of $3,293.11 for
street sprinkiing for the year 1960 was presented, entitled:

A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN LEVYING AND ASSESS-
ING A SPECIAL ASSESSMENT OF TAXES UPON ALL THE PROPERTY IN STREET SPRINK-
LING DISTRICTS OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, COUNTY OF GALLATIN, STATE OF MONT-
ANA, TO DEFRAY SEVENTY-FIVE PERCENT OF THE COST OF SPRINKLING STREETS
WITHIN SAID STREET SPRKINKLING DISTRICTS OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN FOR THE
YEAR 1960.

It was moved by Mayor Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, the. t the
resolution be provisionally adopted and August 24th, 196u be set as the date for
hearing protests and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote:

No, none.
Resolution No. 986 -- Lighting Assessment I
Resolution No. 986, levying the assessment in the amount of $3,883.08 for
various lighting districts for the year 196U was presented, entitled:
COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 986
A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN,
MONTANA, LEVYING AND ASSESSING LIGHTING DISTRICT MAIN-
TENANCE AND ELECTRICAL CURRENT COSTS FOR SPECIAL IMPROVE-
MENT LIGHTING DISTRICTS OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, PURSUANT
TO THE PROVISIONS OF SECTrCN 11-2252 R. C. M. 1947.
It was moved by Commissioner Staudaher, seconded by Mayor Swanson, tha t the
resolution be provisionally adopted and August 24th, 1960 be set as the date for
hearing protests and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote:
those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson and Com~issioner Staudaher; those voting
No, none.
Bond -- Clerk of the Commission & Asa't. Director of Finance
Renewal of the annual bond of Clinton K. Wilson, Clerk of the City Commission
and Ass't. Director of Finance of the City of Bozeman, in the amount of $15,000
for a one-year period beginning August 1, 1960 and ending August 1, 1961 was pre- I
sen ted. The bond was approved by the City Attorney, and it was moved by Mayor
Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, that the bond be approved and accepted
and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye
being Mayor Swanson and Commissioner Staudaher; those voting No, none.
Request -- Authority to Travel
It was reported that E. ~hurman Cloninger, Park and Cemetery superintendent,
has reques ted authority to travel to Missoula to a ttend the Montana-Wyoming Turf
and Nurserymen's Association meeting scheduled Sept. 11-13. The City Manager
recommended the request be granted, and, that it being in the public interest, the
necessary expenses of the travel be paid out of the Park and Cemetery Funds. It
was moved by Commissioner Staudaher, seconded by Mayor Swanson, that the request
for travel be granted as recommended and the motion was carried by the following
Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson and Commissioner Staudaher;
those voting No, none.
Purchase of Transite Pipe ,.- Cemetery
The City Manager reported the Cemetery Department has need for 600' of 6" I
'transite' water pipe at an approximate cost of $750.UU to replace or repair water
mains in the cemetery. It was moved by Commissioner Staudaher, seconded by Mayor
Swanson, that the City Manager be authorized to make the purchase and the motion
was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson
and Commissioner Staudaher; those voting No, none.

Reports
The fOllowing reports were presented:
Police Judge Director of Public Works
Water Collector Director of Finance
I Fluoridation
The Manager reviewed the reports with the Commission and recommended that the
reports be approved and fiLed. It was moved by Mayor Swanson, seconded by Commis-
sioner Staudaher, that the reports be approved and filed and the motion was car-
ried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson and
Commissioner Staudaher; those voting No, none.
Re-codif'icatlon -- City Ordinances
James M. Taylor representing Book Publishing Co. of Seattle retained by the
City as codifiers of the City ordinances verbally reported on the progress his
company has made on the project. Mr. Taylor commented on various aspects of the
present ordinances and made suggestions in regard to several that should be re-
vised or repeaLed. Book Publishing Company was authorized by the Commission to
bind alL 5U volumes of the code as contracted in the "Seattle Code" type binders
at an additional cost of $6.00 per volume over the base bid. It was also tent-
atively agreed that the City should make a charge of $21.00 per volume to the public.

it was moved by Mayor Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, tha t the meet-
ing adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those
voting Aye being Mayor Swanson and Commissioner Stsudaher; those voting No, none.
