February 3, 1960
The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission
Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, February 3, 1960 at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Present
were Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy, City Manager Cutting,
City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk. The following proceedings were had:
Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commissioner I
Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the minutes be approved as read and
the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Damages - Claim of Reba Hampton
A claim from Reba Hampton of 234 East Mendenhall in the amount of $544.00 filed
for damages to her property alleged to have reslJl ted during the renewal by the City
of a water service to her property was filed with the Commission by Mrs. Hampton's
attorneys.
The City Manager was instructed to notify the attorneys of the claimant that the
matter is being referred to the City's insurer.
Claims for the Month of January, 1960
Claim No's. 7144 to 7417 inclusive were presented on the various funds as follows:

The Manager stated that he has audited these claims and finds them to be true
and lawful claims against the City of Bozeman and recommends that warrants be issued

for their payment. After examination of the claims in detail and checking against
the claim register, it was ~oved by Commissioner Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner
Sedivy, that the claims be approved and warrants issued for their payment and the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor
Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher, and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Investment of Surplus Cash from Various City Funds
Director of Finance Shadoan reported that cash balances in some of the City funds
not presently required for operations make it possible and advisable to invest a portion .
of these funds in "Ninety-day U. S. Treasury Bills" in the amounts as follows:

City Manager Cutting recommended the above investments, and it was moved by
Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, that the Diroctor of Finance
be authorized to comp18te the transaction and the motion was carried by the following

Mayor's Remittance of Police Court Fine - Bonhomme
Mayor S!"anson notified the Commission tha t he investiga ted the 6J.lilpects of' a Police
Court Case,~ocket No. 17902, Gertrude Bonhomme, defendant, and that because of the cost
of further cpnfinement and possible medical care, he did on January 21, 1960, act with-

I in the powers conferred on him by Section 11-802, R.C.M., 1947, and did remit the bal-
ance of the sentence.
Authority to ~Travel: - Meeting of Montana JfByors and City Officials, Helena, Mont. 2/11/60
A meeti~.g of Montana Mayors and City Officials is scheduled for February 11, 1960
at Helena, Man tana . It was moved by Commissioner Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner
Sedi vy, that the meeting being in the public interest, that the Commission authorized
the Ma yor , other Members of the City Commission and the City Manager to attend the
meeting and the necessary expenses of the delegates be paid out of the general fund,
and, also, that Assistant City Manager appointee Harold E. Fryslie be invited to
accompany the group. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those
voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those
voting No, none.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it
was moved by Commissioner Staudaher, seconded by Commissi~ner Sedivy, that the meet-
ing adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those vot-
