The Commission of the Ci ty of Bozeman met in rog'..11ar session in the Commission
Room, Ci ty Hall Building, Wednesda y, February 17, 1960 at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Present
were Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Staudaher, Commisr.ioner Sedivy, City Manager Cutting,
Ass't. Manager Fryslie, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk. The following proceedings
I were had:
Minutes of the last regulor session were read and it was moved by Commissioner
Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Staudaher, that the minutes be approved as read and
the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Sedivy and Co~issioner Staudaher; those voting No, none.
Swimming Pool - Restoration of
Oswald Berg, Jr. , representing R. L. Prussing Engineors of Billings, retained
by the City to prepare plans and specifications for the restoration of the fire damaged
City Swimming Pool heating plant, presented preliminary plans ~or the building portion
of the project. Mr. Berg stated that these plans and prelimiQart p]_8Ds-~or the mech-
anical eqtlipment involved had been reviewed and rocomr.lended for approval b"y City

Recreation Director Glen ~bite. He further advised th8 t comp18te phms ana. specifi-
cation would be submitted in time to permit a call for bids to be issuBd for a sug-
gested bid opening date of March 23, 1960.
It was moved by Commissioner Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, thR t, on
I the basis of Mr. Berg's report, March 23, 1960 at 1:30 P.M. be set as the date and
time for opening bids on the proposed project and the motion was carried by the follow-
ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Stnudaher
and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Truck Route - Joint Meeting of City Commission ano County Conunissioners
A letter was presented dated February 9th from the Board of County Conunissioners
requesting a joint meeting with the City Commission for a discussion of the designated
truck route through Bozeman. City Manager Cutting was instructed to advise the County
Board that the City Commission is agreeable to meeting with them during its regular
meeting to be held on February 24, 196u and at either the City Hall or the Courthouse.
Ska ting Rinks - Report for Season of '59-'60, Closing Date
The Commission reviewed the season's report of the operations of the skating
rinks. Weather conditions, operational costs, and reduced attendance indicate that
it does not appear advisable to continue the operation of the rinks for an extended
period and Sunday, Febrtlary 21st was scheduled as the date for the closing of the
rinks for the season.
I Parking Problem
W. P. Bohart, president of the Bozeman Board of Realtors, and TI. Earl Dawes,
zoning committee representative for the rsaltors, appoared before the Com~ission and
discussed various concepts for the sa tisfac tory solu tion of the off-s treet parking
pro~lem within the City. Mr. Dawes suggested that property owners in the downtown

bus iness dis tric t should seriously cons ider es ta blishL1g areas to provide free park-
ing for their customers, and if the plan proved 3t:cccssful the parking areas could
then be deeded to the City. Management and financial operations of the areas would

then become a phase of City management. It appeared to be agreeable to all of the
group tha t the Board of Real tors sched,~le 8. mee tin€; of down town property owners to
further discuss the plan.
Letter - Montana Sta te Highway Commission
A proposed letter to the Montana State Highway Com.vrission recommending that
special curb trea tment conforming to existing improvements on the north side of 'vVest .1
Main Street (extended) between Eleventh and Fifteenth Avenues be included in the
proposed paving project on U.S. Highway No. 191 west of Bozeman was approved.
Adjournment
There 'being no further business to come before the Comrr!ission at this tiMe, it
was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Cpmmissioner Staudaher, that the meeting
adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting
Aye being Mayor Swanson, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Staudaher; those voting
No, none.
