I would like to add my voice to those opposing the development at Black & Olive. Bozeman is growing
and we do need to pack more people into the space that we already have but there must be a way to do
this without ruining neighborhoods for people already living there. Why does this development have to
be 5 stories tall? How about three? It would be less invasive that way, possibly have enough parking,
and fill the need for housing. I know the developer is in the business of making as much money as
possible but in this case a five-story building just does not fit the site and the neighborhood. Bozeman
streets are already glutted with the cars of people who cannot park on their property. Adding to that
seems unwise.
Bozeman is currently being loved to death and I don’t expect that will end anytime soon. We need to
have a handle on development that fits in our neighborhoods. People want to live in this part of town
for its charm. Five-story buildings just don’t have that.
