HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-15-17 Public Comment - I. Decker - Black OliveCity Commissioners, I have lived in the Bozeman area all of my life and in the city of Bozeman for 29 years. I have lived at 219 E. Olive (about 1 block from the proposed Black Olive) for 28 of those years. Regarding the Black Olive, I have been to several meetings and it seems that Andy H. likes to give the impression that he and those he represents are concerned with the neighborhood, but in reality, they are not. They could of come up with various designs for a building that would of fit in much better with this area of town, an area with so many beautiful, historic homes. I have seen many of my neighbors put thousands of dollars into improving their homes over the years. I personally paid over $100,000 for a remodel of the upper story of my home last year. For many years, we were told that we had to do things in a very specific manner to keep the flavor of the historic district we lived in and we did that. It would be a slap in the face to all of us surrounding the proposed Black Olive for you to approve something so large and unbecoming to our neighborhood after all that we have invested to maintain the look and feel of the historic district we live in. In addition, parking is a huge concern. I am not a fan of a parking district for the area surrounding the Black Olive because it is a pain along with the fact that it is not at all welcoming to people that are here for Sweet Pea, Music on Main, etc. However, if push comes to shove, we will need to pursue that route. Please do not approve the Black Olive. I firmly believe Andy H and those he represents need to come up with a design that is a good fit for our neighborhood and accommodates the necessary parking. Thanks for listening, Irene Decker 219 E.
