HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-09-17 Public Comment - A. Kesselheim - Black OliveDear City Commission/Planners: Tonight's Design Review Board meeting seemed all about the nuts and bolts details of this building, as if we've gotten down to the minor details before approval. The public comment, from the beginning of this proposal, has been consistent in its objections, and the project remains the same, despite minor tweaks. It is still a monolithic wall of a building rising out of neighbors' yards. It still is woefully inadequate in regards to parking. It will impact the day-to-day quality of life for this neighborhood, and set a troubling precedent for upcoming projects. Simply because it technically meets zoning codes in a narrow interpretation of those documents, does not mean it makes sense or is the right way for Bozeman to develop. Unfortunately, you are already losing long-term neighboring residents who are selling and moving elsewhere to escape the impacts. More will follow. Those that remain will be reminded daily of what used to be, and the sacrifices we've had to make to assuage the greed of a developer. How do you measure the loss of that kind of community continuity, neighborhood solidarity, and historical knowledge? For what? A rich developer's bank account? A narrowly envisioned concept of growth? This remains the wrong building, in the wrong place. I urge you to deny it. Alan Kesselheim 415 E. Olive Bozeman, MT
