HomeMy WebLinkAbout1959-08-12 ~ 111 Bozeman, Hontana August 12, 1959 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, vvednesday, August 12, 1959 at 1:00 o'clock P. H. Present were Kayor Erwin, Conunissioner Swanson, Commissioner Berg, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk. The following proceedings were had: -I Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seconded b~l Commissioner Berg, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion ...ras carried by the follo,^,ing A:le and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Erwin, Commissioner Swanson and Com~issioner Berg; those voting No, none. Disposal of Deposits from Septic Tanks Clyde Cox and other owners of property located in the vicinity of East Main street discussed with the Commission their problem of disposing of deposits from septic tanks as a result of the Cit:i's prohibiting the dwnping of such material at the City Dump Grounds. The Cit~T Manager was instructed to investigate the feasibilit:l of dumping such material in the City Sanitary Sewer Systern or disposing of it by other means and action on the matter was deferred pending such investigation. Protest -- City's Order to Construct Sidewalks, 'dilbur Smith Hilbur Smith and Hedley Norine appeared before the Cormnission to protest the order of the Ci t~i requiring them to build sidewalks abutting their property on l"To l' tl] Seventh Avenue and on both sides of Short Street. They expressed willingness to construct a sidewalk on North Seventh Avenue and on the south side of Short Street. but stated that to construct all of the sidewalk at this time would impose an undue financial hardship. Action on the matter was taken under advisement by trle Commission and I action deferred until the next regular meeting. Liability Insurance Policy -- Continuation in Force to August ]0, 1960 D. H. 1vIyrick of Valley Insurance Realty Company, Agents for General Insurance Company of America, appeared before the Commission to discuss continuation of blanket liability PolicJ' No. 132548. Anniversary date of this policy is August 30, 1959 and the net premhun for the year ending that date is 2.2,564.32. The estimated 1959-60 premium is ;p2,34lj..3b. Mr. Myrick pointed out that, by having had this policy written for a three-~'ear term, but subject to annual audit and adjustment of premium, the proposed new premium is approximately $150.00 less than if a new policy had been written each year. Hr. Hyrick was instructed to prepare his claim for premium in accordance with this proposal on the basis that the policJT vdll be continued in force for one year from August 30, 1959. Plans and Specifications for S. I. D. 40b, 408, 409, 410, 411 and hl;: Rids for S. I. D. h06, h08, h09, 410, 411 and 412 Plans and specifications covering proposed improvements in Special Improvement Districts numbered L+06, 408, 409, 410, 411 and 412 were presented and reviewed in detail with Tommy ThOlTh'1S and .. 'dayne Dean, representing Harold Hoskins and Associates. Subject to minor corrections which are being made, the plans and specifications had been approved by City Engineer Liquin. It was moved by I Conmnssioner Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Berg, that, in accordance with the plans and specifica- tions presented by Harold Hoskins and Associates, the Clerk of the City Commission be, and is hereby, instructed to publish "Call for Bids" on these proposed improvements on the basis tnat the bid for 88.ch improvement district be separate or segregated, so that -it may be ccnsjclered as a separ?te bid. Appointment to Cemetery Board -- Hrs. Gordon Hestlake Hayor Erwin announced the appointment of }'Irs. Gordon ~Jestlake, 521 ~est Cleveland Street, as a I member of Sunset Hills Cemetery Board to fill the unexpired term of Hrs. Elizabeth Plew, resigned. It was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Berg, that the appointment be approved and the motion was carried by' the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Erwin, Commissioner Swanson and Commissioner Berg; those voting Ho, none.
