Minutes of Meeting January 24, 2017

At 12:02 pm, the TBID Meeting was called to order

Minutes from previous meeting – None, as there was no meeting previous month
Public Comment – None
Gregg from Prime, Inc. gave the marketing report and website update. They are three
months in to their TBID Marketing. Website traffic is up 68% in Q4 2016. Majority of
increases are in e-mail, Pay Per Click and social media. There are now over 34,000
Facebook followers, and there has been over 42,000 views of blog posts. Larry inquired
about room revenues generated from the campaign – Gregg indicated there was no
good answer to this as there was no metric in place to measure this. Gregg said he
would work on some sort of metric to try and get an estimate of room revenue
generated. Andrew motioned to approve the Marketing Report, Sandra second.
Motion passed.
Big Sky Classic grant request was presented by Chris Tarabochia. This is a basketball
tournament that will be held March 4-5, 2017. They are projecting 50 teams, about 35
from outside the area with an estimated lodging impact of $45,600. They are seeking
$5,400 in TBID funding to pay for high quality referees. Larry motioned to approve up to
$5,400 for the cost of the referees, second by Carl. Motion approved.
Chris Tarabochia gave a summary of the Fall Ball Classic. This was a basketball
tournament that was held in November of 2016. They had 72 teams in the tournament,
48 of which were from outside the Bozeman area. This was a 28% increase from 2015.
Andrew motioned to approve the report, second by Lisa. Motion approved.
The Bozeman Hardwood Classic grant request was presented by Brad Huse. This is a
basketball tournament that will be held Jan. 28-29, 2017. They have 144 teams
registered, approximately 100 of them from outside the Bozeman area. They estimated
the lodging impact from this tournament to be approximately $142,000. They are
seeking $10,000 in TBID funding to assist in paying for high quality referees. Motion to
approve $10,000 in TBID funding for the Hardwood Classic, second by Sandra. Motion
approved with Andrew abstaining.
Dax Schieffer spoke on behalf of Voices of Montana. Their organization provides a voice
for Montana tourism and to educate people on the impact tourism has in Montana. In
2016 there were 12.3 million visitors to Montana, a 5% increase from 2015. Larry
motioned to approve $6,000 in TBID funding for Voices of Montana, second by Sandra.
Motion approved.
Melanie gave an update on the Gallatin Valley Tournament Committee. She handed out
a flyer detailing the upcoming tournaments, and emphasized that they will be needing
volunteers for upcoming tournaments.
Daryl gave the Financial Report. Andrew motioned to approve the financial report as
presented, second by Sandra. Motion approved.
