HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-05-20 456 Bozeman, Montana May 20, 1964 The Connnission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, May 20, 1964 at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy, Gommissioner Langohr, Acting City Manager Fryslie and the Clerk. Commissioner Langohr opened the meeting with a prayer and the follow- ing proceedings were had: Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Connnissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the minutes as read be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none. Public Hearing -- Special Improvement District No. 438 This was the time and place set by Commission Resolution No. 1116 to hear protests, if any, to the creation of Special Improvement District No. 438. Affidavi t of publica tion of Notice and the Clerk's Mailing Certifica te sta. ting that all property owners had been notified as required by law were presented. No written protests were on file and no one appeared to verbally protest the extent or the creation of the district. Acting City Manager Fryslie reco- mmended that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare a resolution to create the district. In concurrence with the recommendation of the Acting Ci ty Manager, it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the City Attorneybe instructed to prepare the proper reso- lution to create Special Improvement District No. 438 and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Langohr and commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. Centennial Planter Boxes During the regular session of the Commission held on March 18th, the Gallatin Empire Garden Club was granted permission to place small centennial flower planters at the Main street intersections during the summer season of 1964. It was reported that the Bozeman Council of Camp Fire Girls is now planting the flowers in the planters and would care for them during the season; also, that the two clubS had expressed a desire to donate the planters to the Ci ty. It was moved by commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the City accept the donation of the planters and tha t both clubs be commended for their very praiseworthy program. rl'he motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none. Report Bozeman Munlcipal Band I A letter from Gharles G. Myrick, secretary-treasurer of the Bozeman Municipal Band, which stated that Ro~f .Johnson had been elected band director for the summer season and also listing the other elected officers and the proposed 1964 concert schedllle of the organization was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the action of the members of the band be approved and the motion was carried by the follOW- ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy Sedivy, that the reports be approved and ordered fiLed and the motion was I 458 and Commissioner Langohr, those voting No, none. Reports for April The following reports were presented: Director of Pinance Director of ~ublic Service The Acting City Manager commented on each report and recommended their approval. It was moved by Conunissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Langohr and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. Annual Clean-up Week May 18th - 23rd After discussion, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that Mayor Morrow proclaim the week of May 18th - May 23rd, as the City's annual "CLean-up Week" for 1964, and that all avail- able City sanitation equipment and facilities be directed to assist the public in the program to assure its success by picking up trash in the residential areas beginning May 25th. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy and Commis- sioner Langohr; those voting No, none.
