HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-06-03 Bozeman, Montana June 3, 1964 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in rer,ular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, June 3rd, 1964 at 1:00 o'clock I p.m. Present were Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr, City Manager Cutting, Assrt. City Manager Frys1ie, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk. Mayor Morrow opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commis- sioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Langohr and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. Municipal Building Facility Election Bond Issue Authorized The City Manager reported that the official re~lrns of the Municipal Building Facility General Obligation Bond Election held yesterday, June 2nd, 1964, had favorable carried by a vote of 1876 for to 10~~ against, being a favorabLe return of 63.1% of the vote of the 67.7% of the eligible taxpayer voters casting their ballots on the issue. He enumerated a number of phases of the building program which sould be given immediate attention and recommended that a special meeting of the Commission be held at a time and date at the earLiest convenience I of the Commission for the purpose of re-analysing previOlwly approved pLans for this building program. Holding such a special meeting was approved by the Commission and was tentatively shcedule for 7:30 P.M. on Monday, June 8, 1964. Police Judge Appointment of Richard H. Reen Mayor Morrow recommended that Richard H. Renn, Bozeman attorney, be appointed Police Judge to fill the vacancy crated in that office by the resi- gna tion of Arthur F. 'lhompson. It was moved by Commis sioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that Mr. Renn be appointed Police Judge for the City of Bozeman as recommended and his appointment be effective as of June 1, 1964. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none. SID No. 435 Intention to Create (Pave and Drain Northeast Section of Bozeman) Resolution No. 1121 During the meeting of April 15, 1964, to provide time for further study of the matter, action on the proposed resolution of intention to create Special Improvement District No. 435 to provide pavement and storm drainage in a large 1 area of the northest section of Bozeman, was tabled. In concurrence wi th the recommenda t10n of the C1 ty Manager, it was moved by Commissioner LanF\ohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the resolution be passed and adopted and June 24, 1964, be set as the date for public hearing and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Langohr and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. License Fee for Shrine Circus The City Manager reported advice had been received that the Gallatin Shrine Club is sponsoring and has scheduled the Hubert Castle International Circus in the Field House at M.S.C. on July 7th, and has inquired as to the amount of license fee it will be required to pay in sponsoring this circus. It was moved by Commissioner SediVY, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that, in view of the fact that net proceeds of this circus will be used for charitable purposes, the license fee be set at one-half of the customary fee. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none. License Bonds Valley Plbg. & Heating, (Plumbing) Electric, Inc. (Electrical) In compliance wi th Chapters 15 and 16 of the Bozeman Municipal Code, the plumbing F.lDd gas fi tter License bond of Valley .Plumbing and Hea ting, and the electrical bond of Reddi Electric, Inc., both of Billings, Montana, were pre- sen tad. Gerald Pelton, Jr. (National Recreation Association) Gerald Pelton, Jr. reprl'senting the National Recreation Association appeared before the Comrdssion to present a resume of the sorvices rendered to cities and towns by his organization, and in closing complimented the City of Bozeman on the attrnct:i.veness of its parks and its programmed plan to provide future recreational areas within its limits. City's Contribution for Portable Reviewing Stand The City Manager stated the 10C3L CentenniaL ~rogram Committee had reouested that tho City contr:ibute an Dr'oun!; no::; to exceed $;175.UO for materials to construct a portable reviewing stand and that the stand when completed would revert to the City for fllture use. It was moved by Commtssioner Langohr, seconded by Cornmissioner Sedivy, that the purchase of materials for the subject review- ing stand in an amount not to exceed the $175,00 as requested be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Langohr and Comm:issioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.
