The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the
Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, June 17, 1964, at 1:00 o'clock
p.m. Present were Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Langohr, Ci ty Manager Cutting,
City Attorney Berg and the Clerk.
Commissioner Langohr opened the meeting with a prayer and the following
proceedings were had:
Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Mayor
Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the minutes as read be approved
and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye
being Mayor Morrow and Commissioner Langohr; those voting No, none.

were read and it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Mayor Morrow,
that the minutes as read be approved and the motion was carried by the follow-
ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow and Commissioner
Langohr; those voting No, none.
Approva 1 of Pla t
Greek Way Subdiv~sion (Montana State College)
Montana State College's plat of Greek Way Subdivision to provide sites
of adequa te area for construction of fu ture homes for local chapters of
fraternities and sororities of the College was pre8ented by Martin Whalen for
consideration by the Commission. 'l'he Commission was informed the plat had been
approved by the Planning Board subject to certain corrections. After discussion,
it was moved by Mayor Morrow that, contingent upon clearance and favorable reco-
mmendation of the Flat by the Bozeman City-County PLanning Board the subject
pla t be approved and requirements for providing land for park puposes be waived,
and tha t the Mayor be authorized to sign the Certlfica te of Appro,tal of waiving
park requirements for the City and the City Manager be authorized and directed
to sign the plat as Director of Public Service. The motion was carried by the
following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow and Commissioner
Langohr; those voting No, none.
Discussion
Parking Problem on Main Street (Nelson Story, III)
Nelson Story, III appeared before the Commission to discuss the parking
problem on Main Street that has become more aggravated during the past few years.
Mr. Story called particular attention to the present crit.ical need for more
off-street parking in the area of Main Street and Grand Avenue, and requested
the Commission give serious considera tion to purchasing addi tional parkj.ng area
to serve that purpose. Mr. Story also exprossed the belief that unless the
City does continue to make provision for off-street parking, businosses will
be forced to seek operational space outside the City with a resultant degener-
ation of the ~entral Business District.

North Side Baseball Fields (John P. Parker)
.John P. Parl{er, a representative of the local Babe Ruth Baseball League,
appeared to discuss a program for the planning of future baseball diamond
facilities in the City. Mr. Parker was informed that the City continues plan-
ning for city wide recreational programs and facilities, however, some source
of funds other than present operating revenues must be found to permit any

major capital improvements.
Authority to Purchase Water Meters
The City Manager reported that the Water Department has need for an
additional supply of (3/4") water meters and requested authority to purchase
thirty-four (34) of the meters at an approxlml::ite cost of $<J9u.UO. It was
moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Mayor Morrow, that the purchase be
approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those
voting Aye beinp Mayor Morrow, and Commissioner Langohr; those voting
No, none.
License Bond (Fullerton Plbg. & Htg., Plumber & Gas Fitter)
In compliance wi th Chapter 16 of the Bozeman Municipal Code, the plumbing
and gas fitter bonds of Pullerton Plumbing and Heating, Hamilton, Montana, were
presented. The City Manager stated the Building Inspector had recommended
approval of the bonds and the Ci ty Attorney had approved them as to form. It
was moved by Mayor Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the bonds be
approved and the motion was carried by the fOllowing Aye and No vote: those

Anderton Electric
It was reported that Anderton Electric has noW completed its work in the

City of Bozeman and had requested that its electrical bond be cancelled. In
concurrence wi th the recommenda tion of the Ci ty Manager, it was moved by
Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Mayor Morrow, that the cancellation of the
bond be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote:
those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow and Commissioner Langohr; those voting
No, none.
Re-investment of City Funds
It was reported by the Director of l"inance that approximatel.Y
$200,00U.UU of City funds currently invested are to mature in the near
future and he requested authority to re-invest the sum in short-term

Resolution No. 1123
Lots (1-3), Block 2, Spring Dell Addition
The com~ission was referred to its action of July 12, 1961, and the
execu tion of a Barga in and Sa le Deed to Robert G. Simkins, e tux to
Lots 1, 2 and 3, Block 2, Spring Dell Addition to the City of Bozeman. To
further complete the transfer, Commission Resolution No. 1123 was presented,

Claim Nos. 10345 to 10347, inclusive, drawn on various Special Inprove-
ment Districts in the total amount of $L,284.UO, in favor of Harold Hoskins
and Associates in payment for special services rendered for the districts
were presented. In concurrence with the recommendation of the City Manar;er and
the City Attorney, it was moved by Commissloner Langohr, seconded by Mayor
Morrow, tha t the claims be approved and the Director of F'inance be auttlOrized
and directed to issue warrants in payment. The motion was carried by the
fOllowing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow and Commis-
sioner Langohr; those voting No, none.
Absence of Commissioner Sedivy
It was reported tha t Commlssioner Sedivy's absence from this meeting and
the fOl.lowing meetir.r, of .Tune 24th, is in compLiance to orders to u ttend the
annuaL summer encamrmmt of the Montana National Gm:\rd. It was moved by
Mayor Morrow, seconded by Comrdssioner LangoLr, that Commissioner :::>edivy's
absences from the meetings be anthorized in compliance with Section 2.08.060
