The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the
Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, June 24, 1964 at L:OO o'clock
p.m. Present were Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Langohr,
City Manager Cutting, Ass't. City Manager Fryslie, City Attorney Berg and the
Clerk.

Commissioner Sedivy opened the meeting with a prayer and the following
proceedings were had:
Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by
Commis sioner Langohr, seconded by Ma yor Morrow, tha t the minute s as read be
approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vo [,e: those
voting Aye being Mayor Morrow, Commissioner Langohr and Commissioner Sedivy;
those voting No, none.
Public Hearing

(Paving Northest section of Bozeman)
This was the time and place set in Comr1ission Hesolution No. 1121 to hear
protests to the creation of Special Improvement District No. 435, for the
drainage and paving of various streets east of North Wallace AVenue. The
affidavit of publication of Notice was presented together with the Clerk's
Mailing Certificate stating that all known property owners had been notified
as required by law. 'lhe Ci ty Manager informed the Commission tha t as of
the district constituted a total of 5u.68% of the property inCLuded within the
boundaries of the district and to comply with Section 11-2206, R.C.M., 1947,
further proceedings to create the district at this time must cease.

S.I.D. No. 439 (Sanitary Sewer, N. 18th)
This was the time and place set by Commission Resolution No. 1118 to
hear protests to the creation of Special Improvement District No. 439. Affi-
davit of publication of Notice and the Clerk's Mailing Certificate stating
that all known property owners had been notified as required by law were pre-
sented. No written protests were on fiLe and no one appeared to verbally pro-
test the creation of the district.

adopted and that Harold Hoskins and Associates be authorized to,furnish the
engineering services for special Improvement District No. 439. The motion was

Authorization for Carnival JC's CSiebrand, ,July 13-16)
Frank pollinger, President, and 'rom U'Brien, representing the local
JC's, appeared in behalf of their organization to reoue:ot that the club be
anthorized to sponsor Siebrand Shows in the City durinp: July L3th to lCth,
inclusive. Don Dick, President of the local Lions Club, appeared to report
to the Commission the Lions Club had voted to request the City that it deny
the JC's choice of its date because of its nearness to the Lions Club's
sponsorship of the Inland Empire Shows during the period of July 7-11, inclusive.
Within the scope of the authority of the Commission, there appeared to be no
evidence to the con trary tha t the Commis sion should ac t otherwise than to
grant the JC's authority to sponsor the Siebrand Shows in conformity with its
request. It was then moved by Commissioner L8ngohr, seconcled by Commissioner
Sedivy, that the local chapter of the JC's be granted authority to sponsor
the Siebrand Shows wi thin the Ci ty of BozemBn a t the Coun ty Fair Grounds
during the period of July 13th to 16th, inclusive. The motion was carried
by the following Aye and No vote: those vot1ng Aye being Mayor Morrow,
Commissioner Langohr and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Reques t Excr,ange Club (Four th of July Fireworks Program)
It was reported that the Bozeman Exchange Club had requested permission
to stage its annua 14th of ,Tllly fireworks dis pIa y in the area of the former
Bozeman Country Club in accordance with the same agreement as granted by the
Ci ty to the Club in prior years. 'rhe Ci ty Manager recommended tha t the per-
mission to stage the display, as requested, be granted and it was moved by
Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the permission be
granted as recommended and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No
vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow, Com,.,lissioner Sedivy and Commis-
sioner Langohr; those voting No, none.

The Ci ty Manacrer reported the Wa ter lJepartment has need for an addi-
tional suPPlY of 6" ancl 14" cast iron water pipe and various fittings of like
sizes and renuested author:l.zat:ton to place an order for the aforementioned
in various s:l.zes and dimensions in a total amount of approximately $95u.OO.
It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that
the purchase be authorized and the motion was carried by the following Aye

PurchaSe of Fire Hydrants
The City Manager reported the Water Department has need for an additional
supply of fire hydrants and requested authorization to place an order for
4 hydrants at a total approximate cost of $935.00. It was moved by Commissioner
Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Langohr, that the pu.rchase be authorized and

Booth on MaIn Street (CC Crazy Days, July 17th)
It was reported the local <Tayceens had requested permission to pLace a
booth to be located on the sidewalk in front of the Montana Power building
for the sale of handicraft dur~ng the local Chamber of Commerce's staging of
its II Craz y Da ys" on July L'7 th. In concurrence wi th the re commenda tion of the
Ci ty Manager, it was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded by Commissioner
Sedivy, that, subject to like action of the Montana .l;.ower Company, permission
to place the booth as requested be granted. The motion was carried by the
fol.Lowing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Morrow, Commissioner
Langohr and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.

The continuation certificate for the renewal of the fas fitters license

Joint Meeting)
Ass't. Fire Chief Hoey reported on his attendance at the Montana Fire
Department Association's Meeting conducted at Anaconda, June llth-~3th.
Mr. Boey was particularly compLimentary as to tho manner in Which the meetings
were conducted and roported tha t three rcsolu tions had been passed to ini tia te
actions to be presented to the Montana State Legislature during its coming
session, as follows:

1. A bill to strengthen the State Fire Marshall's office.
2. 'l'he full amOl1.n t of the i-% of the revenues derived from
the tax on fire insurance premiums be credited to the
}i'iremen 's }<'und.
3. 'l'ha t addi tiona 1 funds be provided for the firemen's
industriaL educl'ltional program.
and, also, tha t former Bozeman Fire Chief William Penttila is currently
president of the association. It was moved by Commissioner Langohr, seconded
by Commissioner Sedivy, that Asa't. Fire Chief Roey be complimented on the
excellent manner in which he presented his report and that it be accepted and
