I do not want to see the City of Bozeman become a sanctuary city. I personally think it is
ridiculous that we are even having to discuss whether or not our city should break the law and
become a safe haven for people who refuse to even keep our laws. The City of Bozeman should
not be encouraging people to come to this country illegally and live here as if they were a
citizen, and reap all the benefits that our ancestors bled to give to the actual citizens of this
country. There are proper avenues for immigrants to pursue a citizenship, and harboring
people who refuse to put in the hard work and dedication needed to obtain citizenship are a
slap in the face to those who have legally obtained citizenship! The City of Bozeman is having a
hard time even taking care of our own legal citizens; we have homeless on every corner, our
schools are overcrowded, the healthcare system is a complete wreck, our streets are packed
with traffic and sometimes poorly kept, the housing situation is nearly critical, children go
hungry in our community, we can't even get a proper law and justice center....our city is
bursting at the seams with our own problems- with our own legal citizens! If we, as a city, want
to be compassionate towards other people, we need to address the needs and the difficulties
legal citizens face within our own community on a daily basis. I am all for LEGAL immigration;
people who want to come to our great nation and make a better life for themselves and their
families, to go to schools, to get jobs, to pay taxes, to vote, to contribute to the country, the
state, and the cities they now call home. It is not too much to ask that immigrants legally obtain
citizenship, if we were to go to any other country in this world this would be expected of us. We
do not need to open our city up to those people who have no respect for our country, our
government, our laws, or our people...who, instead of adding to our community, they feed off
of it at all our expense!
Thank you for your time, I appreciate it!
