LaDue - SanctuaryFrom: Patricia LaDue [thebozeman4@hotmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, February 07, 2017 7:43 PM To: Carson Taylor; Cyndy Andrus; Chris Mehl; I-Ho Pomeroy; Jeff Krauss Subject: VERY IMPORTANT: Today's News (I had to send this from my personal e-mail because it's too long/exceeds maximum number of characters) . . . Dear Honorable City Commissioners, I write to you, after a very long, hard day at work, and come home to see a commercial about highlights on tonight's news—I couldn't believe my ears—Bozeman was presented with the unthinkable: becoming a sanctuary city (I won't even capitalize it; I was in complete disbelief, so I looked it up; it's true: http://www.kbzk.com/story/34444857/crowd-asks-commissioners- to-make-bozeman-a-sanctuary-city). Commissioners said no a... In light of the polarization of this country, and all that is involved/all that's being challenged/drained—time / money / resources (that are already maxed out—you have to know, between the City, County, and State, there's endless requests for more money, so you have to know RESOURCES ARE DRAINED)—I implore you to PLEASE know it is NOT in Bozeman's best interest to even entertain this topic. Bozeman is dealing with enough right now . . . We moved here, what will soon be 20 years ago . . . I don't recognize our beautiful Bozeman any longer . . . the traffic speaks for itself (growth, coupled with poor planning; I'm sure you don't need me to be more specific here), urban sprawl (developers' greed) found its way to Bozeman . . . and the crime! The CRIME is real, and bad things are happening, and I'm not talking "crime" like when we moved here: The Bozeman Daily Chronicle had, in the Police Report: "Someone stole the tip cup from Baskin-Robins"—yes, that's right, that's what was in the Police Report when we came to visit Bozeman, to see if it was the place where we wanted to move to, to raise our two young sons . . . and the drugs . . . you have to know what our magnificent Bozeman Police Officers (and the MSU Police) deal with; stop this quickly/please don't even make it a topic of debate . . . respect what our President of the United States is trying to do: Make our great nation, the land that we all love, safer/safe . . . rid it of drugs and thugs (even if it's not the way you would do it, at least he's DOING SOMETHING/TRYING TO DO SOMETHING) . . . he's trying to prevent access to our great United States of America to those who truly hate us/wouldn't think twice about causing someone unbearable harm, which includes the horror of dismembering a fellow human being! I VEHEMENTLY OPPOSE THIS, and if it even becomes a blip on the City Commissioner's radar, I will make time (that I really don't have) to get involved; I trust you hear my strong message: SAY "NO," AN "ABSOLUTELY NO," to this, and anything else remotely close to this; LEGAL, LEGAL, LEGAL! What part of "LEGAL" don't these people understand? We are all held to the highest standards of the law; it's time that everyone else whose feet touch our precious U.S. soil do, too! Respectfully submitted, Patricia A. LaDue Bozeman, MT (This isn't proofed; it was written quickly, as I'm anxious to get it to you, so please forgive any typos/if something doesn't flow perfectly; if you need a polished submission, I'll have a lot more time on the weekend.)
