The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commis-
sion Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, Uctober 16, 1963 at 1:00 o'clock p.m.
Present were Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Morrow, City
Manager Cutting, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk.
The fOilowing proceedings were had:
Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commis-
sioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the minutes be approved as
read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those vot-
ing Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy;
those voting No, none.
Request
Holy Rosary Grade School "PTA~
Joseph P. Gary as representa ti ve of the Holy Rosary Grade School ItpTA"
appeared to request that the school be granted permission to place barricades
to block traffic off Third Avenue between West Main Street and West Babcock
Street from 12:15 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., during the days school is in session in
order to provide an additional playground for their school children during that
period and relieve the present dangerous Situation of their piayingin that str~et.
After an open discussion and mutual agreement with Mr. Gary, it was moved by
Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that action be tabled until
the next meeting to provide the Commission an opportunity to further study the
ma tter.
Claim
Industrial Accident Board ($2,705.76)
A claim 1n the amount of $2,705.76 in favor of the Industrial Accident
Board for payment of the third-quarter insurance premium was presented. It
was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the
claim be approved and the Director of Finance directed to issue a warrant in
payment. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting
Aye being Mayor staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and CommiSSioner Sedivy; those
voting No, none.
Police Judge's Report for September
The City Manager presented the September report of the Police Judge and
recommended its approval. It "was moVed by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by
Commissioner Morrow, that the report be approved and ordered filed and the motion
was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor
Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Morrow; those voting No, none.
Authority to Invest Cemetery Permanent Care Funds ($10,000)
The City Manager reported the Director of F1nance had adVised him there Is
a $~O,uuo.uu sum of Cemetery ~ermanent Care funds current~y availab~e for invest-
ment and requested authorization be granted to invest the amount in 4%, U.S. Treas-
ury bonds to mature July ~f1, lto/73. In concurrence w1th the recommendation of tue
C~ty Manager, it was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy,
that authorization for the investment as requested be granted and the motion was

carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor
staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Request for "Forget-Me-NotU Sale, DAV Saturday, Nov. 2nd
A written request that the local post of the Disabled American Veterans
be permitted to stage a "Forget-Me-Not" sale on November 2nd, was presented.
It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that
authorization to conduct the sale as requested be approved and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor
Staudaher, Com~issioner Sedivy and Commissioner Morrow; those voting No, none.
Request to Hold Snake Dance Bozeman Senior High
The written request from the student Body of Bozeman Senior High School
for permission to stage a Snake Dance on Main street on Friday evening October
18th, was presented. Chief police Saunders stated that to his knowledge the
event would not create a traffic problem and he had been advised three high
school teachers were to act as supervisors. It was moved by Commissioner Morrow,
seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that permission to stage the event be approved
and the motion was carried by the fo118wing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye
being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting
No, none.

Purchase Inquiry City Owned Lots in Meadowlark Subdivision
The Conlmission was referred to its action of November 21, 1962, accepting
a Bargain and Sale Deed as grantee to Lots One (1), Two (2), Three (3),
Seventeen (17) and Eighteen (18), of Block A, Meadowlark Subdivision, to provide
land for park requirements in the final platting of Grafts First Subdivision.
The City Manager reported that Eugene Graf, Jr. had inquired as to the possi-
bility of his purchasing the aforementioned land from the City and at what price.
After a discussion of the City parks in general and of the status and value of
this specific property, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commis-
sioner Morrow, that the City Manager be authorized to offer the 5-1ot tract for
sale at a lump sum price of $3,OOO.uO, and the motion was carried by the follOW-
ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner
Sedivy and Commissioner Morrow; those voting No, none.
"MSCw Homecoming Parade October 19, 1963
The request of Montana state ColLege to stage its annual Homecoming Day
Parade on Main Street and other Streets of the City at lU:OO A.M., Saturday,
October 19th, was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by
Commissioner sedivy, that permission to stage the parade be approved and the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting

Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this
time, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow,
that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and

Commissioner Morrow; those voting No, none.
