The Commission of the City of Bozeman met 1n regular session in the
Commission ROODl, City Hall Building, Wednesday, November 6, 1963 at J.:OO
o'cJ.ock p.m. Present were Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy, Commis-
sloneI' Morrow, City Manager Cutting, Assft. City Manager FJt7aJ..1e, City
Attorney Berg and the C!erk.
Rev. Robert H. Mu.Lkey of the Grand Avenue Christian Church opened tne
meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had:
Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by eomm1s-
sioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the minutes be approved
as read and the motion was carried by the fo~lowing Aye and No vote: those
voting Aye being Mayor staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Morrow;

Opening of Bids .- 18" & 24" Cast Iron Water Valves
This was the time and p~ace as advertised to open the bonds on fl1e for
the City'S purchase of a 24" and an l~" cast lron water valve with adapters.
Affidavit of the "Notice of Call for Bids" was presented and it was moved by
Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the bids be opened
and read, as follows:

Engineer tor final tabulation and recommendatlon as to the award of the bid.
Canvass o~ '"en"'ra1 Election 1963
Under the provisions of Section 11-32.L7, R.C.M., 1947, and this being
the first legal day after the CJ.erk of the Commission had received the
returns of the MuniclpaJ. GeneraJ. Election held November 5, 1963, the Clerk
of the Commission aided by the City Commission proceeded to canvass said

It ~s moved by Mayor Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that
Edmund P. Sedivy and Don M. Langohr, Jr. bede01ared eleeted to the otfioe
of City Commissioner for four-year terms beginning Jamary J...- 1964, and a oerti-
ficate of e~ection be issued to each of them. The motion was carrledby the
f'01J.owing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner
Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Disoussion Acceptance of Sewer Projects (SID No's. 425 & 426)
A general discussion regarding the f'int:ll aoceptance of, the East - and
South Side Sewer Projects, SID No's. 425 and 426, was conducted by members of
the Commission, the City Manager, the City Engineer, representatives of Harold
Hoskins and Associates as the consultant engineers and T. G.Haggerty of
Haggerty-Messmer Company, the generaJ. contractor on the projects . Atter alJ.

were taken under advisement by the Commission.
Award of Bids -- Cast Iron Water Valves
The Superin.tendent of the Water Department and the CitY' Engineer having
compJ.eted their final tabulation of the bids submitted for the purchase of cast
iron water valves, the City Manager in concurrence with their recommendation,
recommended that since__ the City as no other 1It.& H valves in the water system,
and because the M & H vaLves as bid by the H. D. Fow~er Company are not 000.-
sidered equal. to the MueJ.ler vaJ.ves as specified, the purchase be awarded to
Waterworks Supplies Company, Spokance, WaShington, on the basis of its totsJ.
bid of $3,BUU.14 for the Mue.1.1er brand valves as now in use in the City's
water system at present. In concurrence with the above recommendations, it
was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow,. that in the
best interests of the City the purchase be awarded to Waterworks SUPPJ.ies
Company and the motion was carried by the fOJ.lowing Aye and No vote: those
voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Morrow;
those voting No, none.
Girl Scout Fund Drive -- (One day during wee~ of 11 November)
It was reported Dr. Wil~lam McPnerson had re~uested that the City grant
permissIon to the Girl Scouts to schedu.1.e a fund drive in Bozeman on a day of
the week of November J.lth. In conourrence with the recommendation of the City
Manager, it was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner SediVY.
that permission to stage the sale 8S requested be granted and the motIon was
carried by the fOilowing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor I
Stsudaher, Commissioner Morrow and CommiSSIoner Sedivy; those voting No, none. _
A~ceptance of Cash Payment -- Pleasant Valley Subdivision .- (Park
Requirements)

The Commission was referred to its action of October 23, .1.963 apprOVing
the piat of the'Pleasant VaJ.iey Subdivision contingent upon Mr. French deeding ,
land to the City of Bozeman to provide for park requirements in that subdiviSion.
The Commission was advised that Mr. French has made a cash offer of $3U5.50 in

lieu of the deeding of land, tha t amount belnll the equi va..len.t of the require-
ment of U.f.51.L acres at $5UV.UO per .acre. In concurrence. with-the recommendation
of the City Manager, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner
Morrow, that Mr. French's counter offer be accepted and the motion was carried
by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher,
Commissioner Sedivy and UommissionerMorrow; those voting No, none.
American Flag Sale

The written request at the Clvitan Club tor permission to conduct a sale
of American Flags from a booth in front of ~enney's store prior to Armistice
Day was presented. Followlng the recommendation of the City Manager, it was
moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that, subject to
approval of the management of the store, permission to conduct the sale as
requested be granted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote:
those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner
Sedivy; those voting No, none.

Gallatin Association for Retarded Children
A written reques t from the Galla'tin 'Associa tion for retaI'ded Cnildren for
permiSSion to stage a tag sale fund drive on November 30th was presented. It
was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by CommiSsioner Morrow, ~at per-

The Oi ty Manager commented on the claims and sta tad he had audited
them and found them to be true and lawful c.laima against the C1 ty of Bozeman
and reoommended that they be approved and the Direotor of Finance d1~ected to
issue warrants 1n pa,ment. Atter examination of the claims 1n detail and check-
ing against the olaim register, it was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded b7
Commissioner Sedivy, that all claims as presented be approved and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Ka10r
Staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come '6efore the Commission at this
