Howdy-
I do not know if you are the right person to complain to,I googled the City of Bozeman website
and found you so I hope its ok to sound off!
My name is George Duke, I am a farmer/rancher from near Edgar,Montana , about 2 hrs east of
Bozeman by car. I like the town very much, in fact I often drive all the way over there just to
buy groceries at Rosauers.
I have a tradition of coming to Bozeman to do my Christmas shopping also.
Today I got a letter from the City's collection agency in Wisconsin demanding $91.00 for a
parking violation they say I committed on 12/22 when I was Xmas shopping on main st. I do not
know if I was parked illegally or where this may have occurred, all I know is that I never
received a written ticket on my vehicle after returning from shopping. I suppose the wind may
have taken it away or someone removed it as a prank, or maybe the city does not even put
them on vehicles and only gets our plate info and then sends that data to Wisconsin for them to
mail to the legal owner of that vehicle.
All I know is that I was never aware that I parked illegally, I drove a long way to get there and
spent a lot of my hard earned money with your local retailers, but evidently I did not spend
enough!
The information on the bill sent by your proxy Professional Account Management LLC just says
"sidewalk" as to the nature of the violation. That has me thinking perhaps one of the tires on
my pickup was touching or too close to the sidewalk maybe? Believe you me that is entirely
plausible when there is so much snow and ice along the sidewalk I'm sure that time of year. And
for that the City demands I pay a high tax of $91? Downright unfriendly in my book. And I don't
like that I wasn't either issued a ticket on the spot or didn't get one at any rate.
I'm not one of the swells that can afford to live there that you represent and work for. And I
cant but help in feeling that you sent me this bill because maybe I live out of town and had
Carbon County plates or maybe my old pickup truck wasn't a hummer or a lexus.
I will stick to Red Lodge next Christmas for my shopping in protest I guess, Merry Christmas in
advance to you and the City for next year anyway and I guess I'll send you that NINETY ONE
DOLLARS by way of Wisconsin sometime when I can scrape up the dough, have a nice day....
