The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the
Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, May 29, 1963 at 1:00 o'clock
p.m. Present were Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy, Ass't. City Manager
Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commis-
sioner Sedivy, seconded by Mayor Staudaher, that the minutes be approved as
read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those
voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.

Acting City Manager
It was moved by Mayor Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that,
due to the illness of City Manager Cutting, that Ass't. City Manager Fryslie
be designated as Acting City Manager for the meeting. The motion was carried
by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher and
Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Absence of Commissioner Morrow
It was reported that Commissioner Morrow's absence from the meeting was
due to illness, and in compliance with Section 2.U8.U60 of the Bozeman
Municipal Code, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Mayor
Staudaher, that Commissioner Morrow's absence be authorized and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor

Authority to Travel
Montana Firemen's Conference
It was reported that the First Annual Montana Firemen's Conference is
SCheduled to be held in Glasgow, June 6-8, inclusive, and Acting City Manager
Fryslie recommended that Fire Chief Pentilla and Fireman Welch be authorized
to a ttend the conference and, it being in the public interest, their expenses
be paid from the General fund. It was moved by Mayor Staudaher, seconded by
Commissioner Sedivy, that the travel as recommended be approved and the motion
was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor
Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No'; ,none.
Chamber of Commerce rfunicipal Building Recommendation
Guy Sperry, Manager of the local Chamber of Commerce, appeared to present
a letter of the Chamber's endorsement of the recommendation of its Past Presidents
Council and Executive Committee regarding the proposed municipal building pro-
". . . tha t the ci ty take steps to place before the
voters a plan to cons true t a municipal building to
house the city administration and the pOlice and
fire departments at a total cost of approximately
$45u,OUO. Further the committee recommends the
plan be for one building conSisting of a fUll base-
ment and two floors and this building to be constructed
on the property owned by the city on the corner of
Rouse and Babcock.

Although the committee showed a preference for one
building they agreed that if the city commission
decided to build two buildings using both pieces
of property owned by the city and the cost kept to
a like figure as for the one building the committee
would concur."
Commission action on the matter was tabLed to afford time for further
study.
Annual Inspection of Walks & Curbs (1963)
Ac ting Ci ty Manager Frys lie reported tha t the engineer's office had
compieted its survey of waiks and curbs within the City and recommendations
for repair/or instalLation for the year 1963, and the meeting was recessed
and the Commission proceeded to make its annuaL inspection of waiks and curbs
within the City. The meeting was ~g~ln convened and it was moved by Mayor
Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, tha t the surve y be approved sub-
