In the Fall 2016 semester Professor Johnson’s students created:  Prototypes for a walk through presentation  A full scale model of the construction system  Cost estimates for production of the small shelters  Models illustrating the variety of designs possible based on the prototypes  Precedent studies from other cities which have implemented small shelter communities In the meetings CAHAB was asked to support two things. 1. Support the utilization of Tiny Houses as a structure type suitable for transitional housing throughout the Bozeman area. CAHAB conducted a resounding unanimous vote to support Tiny Houses as an appropriate housing type for homeless and transitional Bozeman residents. 2. Property owned by the City was identified for the potential lease and construction of a prototype neighborhood. This neighborhood is proposed to managed by existing community resources such as HRDC, with case workers, an onsite residential coordinator, a community center and other needed services as needed. The property is located to the north of Gallatin Village Trailer Court on Edgerly Ln. Noting in the presentation that there would need to be a thorough property investigation, the request was for support from CAHAB, to request the City allow Professor Ralph Johnson to conduct the initial property investigation for suitability.
