HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-05-09 78 Bozeman, Montana May 9, 1962 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, May 9th, 1962 at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Present were Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Morrow, I City Manager Cutting and the Clerk. The following proceedings were had: Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commis- sioner Sedivy, seoonded by Commissioner Morrow, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the folloWing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Morrow; those voting No, none. ,. . Request -- Reserve Parking Spaoe for Truck used in U.S. Mail Servioe Jack Hallam appeared before the Commission to request that an arrange- ment be made to provide a reserved parking space in the vicinity of the post- office between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and 6:uu A.M., to aooommodate his truok used in the looal mail servioe. It was suggested to Mr. Hallam that he contact the City Manager and possibiy an arrangement oould be made to provide the spaoe in the City's metered lot looated south of the postoffioe. Purohase of Power Lawn Mower for the Cemetery & Park Departments It was reported that the Park-Cemetery Department has need for a new power I lawn mower to replace old and obsolete equipment. The City Manager stated funds are available in the budget for purchase of the uni t and recommended tha t he be au thorized to place an order for a 32", Toro rotary mower, in the approximate amount of $9UO.uO. It was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seoonded by commissioner Sedivy, that the purchase of the unit be granted and the motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commis- sioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. Armed Forces Day Parade -_. May 17, 1962 A request from the Armed Forces Committee of the Bozeman Chamber of Commerce for permission to conduct a parade of military units as a part of the Armed Forces day program at 1:50 P.M., Thursday, May 17th, was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by CommisSioner Morrow, that the request be granted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy and commissioner Morrow; those voting No, none. I Shrine Parade -- May 19th, 1962 A request for permission to conduct a Shrine parade on Main Street, May 19th, was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner " Sedivy, that the request be granted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. 79 , ~..... -.. , . ~'~ Extend CityLlmits to the South of City The Commission was referred to its action of April 11, 1962 concerning a request that the City limits of Bozeman be extended to the south to incorporate approximate~y 206 acres of land lying east of Third Avenue and south of the south I Oi ty limi ts . A final plat of the proposed annexation was presented which includes land owned by Thompson Herefords Ranches, Incorporated, property known as the Westridge Subdivision, and property lying adjacent to and south of the souty City limits of Bozeman owned by MoKinley T. Anderson, Douglas R. Drysdale, Ralph Aaker and Henry Edwards. The Commission was informed that the Bozeman City-County PlannlngBoard at its meeting on A'pril 24, 1962 had reviewed and recommended the annexation of the area as presented by the plat. The City Manager presented a staff analysis of providing city services to the area and, after oommenting on various aspeots of the annexation, both pro and con, reoommended its approval and it was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the City Attorney be instruoted to proceed under the provisions of Section 11-403, R.C .M., 1947, to institute the proper prooedure to aocomplish the annexation and . the motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner sedivy; those voting No, none. Complaint -- Livestock in Area of Perkins Place I A written complaint, signed by a majority of residents residing in the immediate neighborhood of Perkins Place, which set forth oharges of unsightly and unhealthy conditions as a result of the manner in which fowl and ~ivestock were cared for in the area was placed before the Commission. The City Manager stated that an investigation with reference to the oomplaint would be conducted and, if justified, immediate action taken to remedy the situation. Request -- Extend City Limits to theWes' The Commission was referred to its action regarding a proposed annexation of some 3uO acres of unplatted land in an area lying west and north of the present City limits. A plat of the area was presented and the CommiSSion was informed the proposed annexation had been approved by the Bozeman City-County Plann ing Boa rd. The City Manager recommended that action on the matter be de~ayed for a period of one week to permi t a further study of boundaries of the proposed area and a~l members of the Commission ooncurred. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, tha t the reports be approved and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the follow- ing Aye and No vote: those voting Ay~ being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Morrow; those voting No, none. 80 Additional Claims for Month of April, 1962 Claim No's. 3142 to 3178, inclusive, were presented on the various funds I as fellows: Fund Amount Fund Amount - - General :Ii 1,848.28 Street 329.45 Wa tar 6,872.92 S.D.S. 595.53 Library 144.84 Park 479.90 Cemetery 16.42 Garbage 142.24 Parking Meter 10,273.30 Planning Board lO.VO Total $20,712.88 The City Manager stated he had audited the claims and found them to be true and lawful claims against the City of Bozeman and recommended their approval and tha t warrants be issued for payment. After examination of the claims in detail and checking against the claim register, it was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner sedivy, that all claims as presented be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; those vo ting No, none.
