The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commis-
sion-Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, May 23rd, 1962 at 1:00 o'clock P.M.
I Present were Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Morrow, City
Manager Cutting, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk.
The following proceedings were had:
Minutes of the iast regular session were read and it was moved by Commis-
sioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the minutes be approved as
read and the motion was carried by the fOilowing Aye and No vote: those voting
Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; those
voting No, none.
Report -- Park-Recreation Conference -- Vancouver, B. C.
Thurman Cloninger, Director of Parks, and A. Glen White, Director of Recreation,
submitted their written report of their attendance at the Park-Recreation Conference
heLd in Vancouver, British Columbia, Aprli 29th to May 2nd, 1962, and commented on
various aspects of the agenda of the program. The City Manager placed emphasis on
the importance and values derived by the City in having representatives at meetings
of such a nature. After complimenting Mr. Cloninger and Mr. White on the oomplete-
I ness of their report, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner
Morrow, that the report be accepted and the motion was carried by the following Aye
and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy and
Commissioner Morrow; those voting No, none.
Bids for Misc. W & C, 1962
This was the time and piace set for receivlngblds for construction of
Miscellaneous Walks and Curbs for 1962. The Commission was informed that no bids
were on file and no one appeared to submit a bid. FOllowing the recommendation of
the City Manager, it was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner
Sedivy, that the Clerk of the Commission be authorized and directed to re-advertlse
for bids for this work for an opening date of June 27, 1962, and the motion was
carried by the fOilowing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher,
Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Discussion -- Extension of City Limits to South
McKiniey T. Anderson appeared before the Commission to request that the Commis-
sion initiate a separate action under the provisions of Section 11-403, R.C.M., 1947,
I to incorporate into the City limits only that part of the area approved for annex-
ation by the Commission on May 9, 1962 which is adjacent to and south of the south
City limits of Bozeman and owned by him and associates and by the Thompson interests.
No action was taken on the request.
Secondary Treatment of Sewage -- Engineering Agreement -- Hoskins & Associates
The City Manager reported that the S~ate Board of Health has requested that
the City initiate a study for secondary treatment of City sewage. A contract agree-

ment between the City of Bozeman and Harold Hoskins and Associates to provide engine-

er1ng ~ervlces for the study was presented. The agreement was approved as to form

by the City Attorney and it was recommended by the City Manager that the City
enter into the agreement and the Mayor and the Clerk of the Commission be author-
ized to sign for the City. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by
Commissioner Morrow, that the agreement be executed as recommended and the motion
was carried by the fOllowing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor
Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Morrow; those voting No, none.
Petition -- Request of Special Improvement District for Storm Drainage and I
Pa yvemen t -- Peach to Tamarack and Grand to Rouse
A petition signed by 18% of the property owners of the area to create a
special improvement district to provide for storm drainage and paving of the area,
Peach Street to Tamarack Street and Grand Avenue to Rouse Avenue, was placed before
the Commission. Upon the recommendation of the City Manager, 1 t was moved by
Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the City Engineer be
instructed to prepare necessary da~a and, based on such data, the City Attorney be
instructed to prepare a resolution of intention to create the proposed district.
The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Reports
The following reports for the month of April were presented:

The City Manager commented on the reports and recommended their approval.
It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, the t the

Traffic Safety Kit -- National Safety Council
~ayor Staudaher acknOWledged receipt of a Traffic Safety Kit he had received
from the National Safety Council as an aid in promoting the National Traffio
Safety Program. It was announced the City will continue to fUlly cooperate in
the program.
Westlake's First Addition -- Corrected Plat
A oorrected pLat of Westlake's F1rst Addition to The City of Bozeman was
placed before the Commission. The City Manager reported that in order to conform
to the property indicated, correction of the original plat was required.
Upon recommendation of the City Manager, it was moved by Commissioner Morrow,
seoonded by Commissioner SediVY, that the corrected pLat be accepted and approved
and the City Manager be authorized to sign the plat as Director of Public Service
and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye
being Mayor staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; those I
voting No, none.

There being no further business to come before the Commission at this
time it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that
the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote:

Morrow; those voting No, none.
