HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-08-01 118 Bozeman, Montana August 1, 1962 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the I Commission Room, City Hall Bui~ding, Wednesday, August 1, 1962 at 1:00 o'clock I p.m. Present were Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Morrow, City Manager Cutting, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk. The following proceedings were had: Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commis- sioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. Sewer Rate Adjustment -- 516 S. 6th Mrs. Alan C. VanHorn appeared to request that, as the residence at 516 South Sixth Avenue had previously been a multiple unit dwelling and was now in the process of being remodeled to serve as a single unit, future sewer charges be calculated on a basis other than that of eighty per cent (80%) of the water consumed during the four winter months in the three years next pre- ceding the current year. Members of the Commission chose to employ the inter- pretation of Section lu.16.220 of the Bozeman Municipal Code, (". . ., and as I to premises which were not so connected sha~l be fixed by the City Manager upon the basis of what the monthly charge for water used would probably have been if the premises, in their present condition, had been so connected and supplied with water by the city, according to the best investigation thereof he is able to make."), in its broader sense and instructed the City Manager, in this instance, to act accordingly. Public Hearing Annual Budget This was the time and place Bet for public hearing on the Appropriation Ordinance No. 836 for the fiscal year ending June 3u, 1963. Affidavit of publication of notice of hearing was presented. Mrs. Herold Murdock and Mrs. Royal Coffey appeared to request information on various budget itmes and in particular in regard to the operational aspects of the revolving fund. Mrs. Murdock read a prepared statement requesting an explanation of the need and reason for the proposed increased levy for that fUnd. However, it was not interpreted by the Commission that the presentation constituted a formal protest against the Commissionts adoption and passage of the proposed ordinance. I No other person appeared to be heard and the Clerk of the Commission stated no formal protest had been filed in opposition to the adoption and passage of the proposed ordinance and accompanying annual appropriation budget. It was moved by Commissioner SediVY, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the Clerk of the Commission be authorized and directed to have the Ordinance published as 119 required by law and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Morrow; those voting No, none. Reports The following reports for the month of July, were presented: I Police Judge Librarian Building Inspector Disposal Plant Operator The City Manager commented on the reports and recommended their approval. It was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the reports be approved and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the follow- ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. Investment -- Police Reserve Funds ($2,000) It was reported the Director of Finance has requested authority to invest $2,000.00 of Police Reserve Funds in U.S. Treasury Bonds maturing during the year of 1974. The City Manager recommended that the investment be approved and it was moved by Commissioner SediVY, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the investment be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy and Commissioner Morrow; those voting No, none. Payroll -- Bozeman City Band I The City Manager placed before the Commission a claim in the amount of $1,415.00 filed by the secretary of the Bozeman City Band which represented payment to members of the'band for concerts played during July. It was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the claim be approved and the motion was carried by the fallowing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Morrow and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the meeting adjourn.
