HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-10-10 156 Bozeman, Montana October 10, 1962 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, Uctober 10, 1962 at I:OO o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Staudaher, Commissioner Sedivy, City Manager Cutting, I Acting City Attorney Angel and the Clerk. The following proceedings were had: Minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Mayor Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. Commissioner Morrowrs Absence -- Approved In compliance with Chapter 2.08 of the Bozeman Municipal Code, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Mayor Staudaher, that Commissioner Morrow's absence from the meeting be considered as authorized, he being a dele- gate of the State organization and local post at the National American Legion Convention at Las Vegas, Nevada. The motion was carried by the fOllowing Aye and No vo te: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. t Re-appointment -- Howard Nelson, Gallatin Field Board (Airport) I . Mayor Staudaher announced the re-appoin tment of Howard Nelson as a member of the Gallatin Field Board for a term ending July 31, 1965. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Mayor Staudaher, that the re-appointment be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being ,Mayor Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. Re-appolntment -- Don Cobb, Pollce Commission Mayor Staudaher announced his re-appointment of Don Cobb as a member of the Police Commission for a three-year term ending April 30th, 1965. It was moved by Mayor Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the re-appoint- ment be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. Purchase of Fence Material to Fence the West Side of New City Yard I The City Manager requested authorization to purchase fence material in the approximate amount of $950.00 to fence the west side of the new city yards. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Mayor Staudaher, tha t the I authorization be granted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. (Continued on Page No. 157) 157 Reinvestment -- Water Funds ($120,000 ) The Director of Finance reported that $120,OuO of Water Fund investments are maturing and requested authority to reinvest the funds in U.S. Treasury I Bills to mature in approximately 180 days. The City Manager recommended that the reinvestment be approved and it was moved by Mayor Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the reinvestment, as requested, be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. Federal Grant -- South Side Sanitary Sewer Trunk Line (SID Noo, 426) During the Commission meeting of September 5, 1962, authority was granted by the Commission to the City Manager to apply for a grant of Federal funds in the amount of $18,678.46 to assist in the construction of the City's proposed project Special Improvement District No. 426: WPC-Mont-65, known as the "South Side Outfall Sewer Trunk Line", and the Mayor was designated the legal represent- ative to sign the application and other documents pertaining thereto. Applica- tion for the grant was made and approva~, in the amount indicated above, was received~ A proposed Commission Resolution No. I056, prepared to accept the offer of the Federal grant was presented, entitied: RESOLUTION NO. 1056 I A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA AUTHORIZED FRED M. STAUDAHER AS MAYOR OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN TO ACCEPT THE OFFER OF A FEDERAL GRANT BY THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE, TO PARTIC- IPATE IN THE AMOUNT OF $lti,673.46 IN THE COST OF THE CON- STRUCTION OF AN OUTFALL SEWER TO SERVE WESTRIDGE SUBDIVISION AND ADJACENT RESIDENTIAL AREAS, AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, TO MAKE THE ASSURANCE REQUIRED BY THE SURGEON GENERAL OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE AS A CONDITION TO SAID FEDERAL GRANT The City Manager recommended that the Commission approve and adopt the re solu tion . It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Mayor Staudaher, that the resolution be passed And adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher and Commis- sioner Sedivy; those voting No, none. Reports The following reports were presented to the Commission: Director of Finance (August) Cemetery ( Se pt. ) The City Manager commented on the reports and recommended their approval. It was moved by Mayor Staudaher, seconded by Commissioner SediVY, that the I reports be approved and ordered filed and the motion WAS carried by the follow- ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Staudaher and Commissioner Sedivy; those voting No, none.
