We also need an open space program (paid for by a local option sales tax/tourist tax). The City (and County) can then buy land from farmers/ranchers wanting to cash out. The city/county can then either preserve the land or lease back to farmers who otherwise couldn't afford to purchase large swaths of land. Win-win. Less money is needed for infrastructure and we preserve that which brings in tourist dollars. The city could also find ways to use part of those land purchases to develop affordable housing options (i.e. Bucking Horse in Fort Collins for inspiration). Once we have an open space plan, a plan for the urban core will be more acceptable. Don't destroy the fabric that makes this town so special. We are not Billings. We are not Missoula. We are Bozeman. Let's keep it that way. I do not live downtown but I would hate for the downtown to lose the character we cherish. Form inserted: 1/30/2017 2:10:54 PM Form updated: 1/30/2017 2:10:54 PM
